My Acer Nitro 5 keeps shutting off automatically while at low power

Hello, to whoever reads this. I've had my Acer Nitro 5 Gaming laptop since 2018, but lately, I've been having problems with it. You know when the screen darkens a bit, and the battery icon in the bottom corner of your screen gets a green icon, signaling that you need to plug in your laptop? For the last couple of days, for some reason, my computer immediately shuts off the moment it's running low. There's no notification, no darkening screen, and no warning.

My laptop shuts off like it held down the power button. Thankfully, it still functions. I plug in using my charger, press the power button, and my computer works fine.

Still, it's frustrating because I use my Acer Nitro 5 for gaming and school. I could be in the middle of a game with full screen or an online class, and then I'm low battery, and my laptop shuts off. Is there any way to fix this?

I'll send a small video for proof, just in case.

  • Hi,

Download and install HWmonitor, run it and post the picture of battery section.

Does this mean I have to get a new battery for my Acer Nitro?

  • Yes, a new battery will resolve the issue, if you happen to game on battery mode, try playing games with AC adapter connected.

I just ordered a new battery. It will come in a few days. If it works, I'll message you back.

I installed the new battery and used HWmonitor to check the wear. All is good. Thank you.
