I'm on a second Aspire 5 laptop now that has a charging failure. The original purchased computer had the charge port fail 3 times. It was repaired by/through the Geek Squad at Best Buy and finally the fourth time they sent it to Acer at my request to demand a replacement based on it's history. Acer replaced the laptop with another Aspire 5 and now the same thing has happened. I want to speak with Acer directly but all forms of contact that I can find through their website, (phone or text, no email address), requires the SNID. Once I put that in it tells me the computer is out of warranty and bumps me to a third party repair group. Does anyone know how to talk to an actual person at Acer? I want to discuss the problem directly with them since it seems to be a manufacturing issue with this model. The port is so small and delicate, (I've never seen a charge cable with such a small contact pin before).

Thanks.

    Hi @Dubghail

You can try to disconnect the laptop from the charger, flip it upside down at the back side there will be a tiny hole with a battery symbol nearby. Jut get a safety pin or a paper clip press and hold it down for 30 secs. After that you can try to connect it back and try to check it.

Hope it will help you in some way.

    Thanks @ragsak28 .

It helped initially so that the laptop was charging for about two weeks. Then it stopped again and the button press didn't help this time. Oh well, off to the local computer gurus.

    Cheers,

    Hi @Dubghail

the 1.1 mm (inside diameter) pin of the power adapter is the same for all ultra-slim laptops regardless of the brand. Are you sure that your power adapter is the correct one: Acer part number KP.06501.012 DELTA/LITE-ON/CHICONY 65W 19V?

BTW If your power button is not working (cannot power up your laptop) you may have a wrong battery for the a515-54AG this motherboard/BIOS will only work with the Murata battery: AP18C4k (31CP5/81/68) Li-Polymer Battery Pack 11.4V 13.05V 4200mAH, 48WH min. rated 3880mAH 44WH, Acer part no.: KT00304012, (3ICP5/81/68) 93005226B101.
