Hello guys.

I have a Nitro 5 AN515-31-52DR ( i5 8250U & mx150 2gb) which it is charging normally on desktop/youtube/etc, but when i'm playing dota 2 or anything which consumes more resources or power it stopps charging and i have to pull and put it back on the AC adapter and so on, but when i go alt+tab or quit the game it continous to charge.I have the original AC adapter of 65W, i tried another original AC adapter of 90W and the problem persists.I have tried updating the drivers and using the integrated graphic card but nothing changes , change the battery with a new original one, uninstalled the battery driver and still nothing changed.

    >>>then the charger starts disconnecting even if the batterty is 100% fully charged.>>>

Yes, exactly!!! The 100% charged battery immediately starts discharging under heavy loads even though it's plugged in. It discharges because it's helping the charger meet the power demand. The charger can't supply enough power without help from the battery. At these times, the battery is NOT charging. It is discharging.

The battery will keep discharging under heavy gaming load until it the battery reaches about 50% charge level. Below 50% charge level, game will start suttering and performance drops. This is because below 50% level, charging the battery automatically takes precedent over CPU/GPU gaming demand power. You then must stop gaming and allow the battery to charge back up to 100% before starting gaming again.

You usually cannot play heavy power game loads continuously on most laptops. All you can do is maximize play times by starting out with a fully 100% charged battery and plugged in before gaming. Once battery drains below 50%, you must stop gaming and allow the battery to recharge fully again to 100% for maximum play time. Higher power chargers will also extend play times for longer periods.

    Hi @RaduMadalin

You can try to do a reset to check if that makes any difference.

Check the above link to do a reset.

NOTE: Make sure to backup all the data before the reset.

Hope it will help you in some way.

This is normal under heavy load when battery must occasionally help charger adapter meet high CPU/GPU power demands. During these times battery is actually draining even though plugged in. This is why battery should be 100% charged and plugged in BEFORE starting heavy loads for maximum play time.

Once battery drains below about 50% level, charging the battery takes precedent over CPU/GPU power demands and stuttering, FPS and game performance drops. Time to stop playing and allow the battery to re-charge to 100%. The gaming can continue until battery again drops below 50%

Sorry no. This is not what you should do. The charger should NOT be unplugged under heavy gaming loads. The battery will drain too quickly. You must start out with a 100% fully charged battery and plugged in BEFORE you start heavy gaming loads. It must remain plugged in.while gaming until stuttering starts. Then you must stop gaming and allow the battery to fully re-charge to 100% . Then you can start gaming again.

@JackE It doesnt remain plugged in for a long time, its around 1min, then the charger starts disconnecting even if the batterty is 100% fully charged.
