Pcie speed of Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-7775 cannot find the correct specs anywhere.

I have searched about the pcie speeds of this model because i want to upgrade it with an 980 pro and cannot find the correct specs anywhere.

Please help.

Secondly, since the laptop already has a single 16gb ram dimm i was also thought it would be a nice idea to upgrade with either

Kingston fury impact 2x8 3200mhz

Or

Kingston fury impact 2x16 3200mhz.

Clearly for the dual channel benefits.

Besides gaming, i do a lot of graphic design and video and sound editing and sometimes i have many Programms open.

What would you advise?

Hi,

Your model has PCIe 3x4 speeds (Gen 3) but another user has installed a Samsung 980 Pro SSD and getting a speed boost, you will get similar speeds in your laptop(see the link)

As for the memory, I would suggest you get another 16GB module with same specs as your current RAM and install, because Kingston Fury has XMP profiles and there's no settings to enable XMP profile in this model, however, the same user using Kingston Fury in this model, so if you prefer Kingston Fury, go ahead and buy it but there won't be much difference between XMP and JEDEC profile RAM modules.

Your model comes with an rtx 3060 gn20-e3. So it has two m2 2280 gen4x4 slots.

I have just installed Samsung 980 Pro SSD 1TB with heatsink.
Before that, I upgraded to 32GB RAM as I needed more for video editing.
Previous programs that took a few seconds to load, now open so fast if you blink you miss it.
