I have an acer Nitro 5 AN515-57 I got it cause it had good reviews and I’ve been very disappointed by it. For whatever reason you can’t use it while it charges or it will crash every 6 minutes. I got the black screen of death and no kind of available reset did anything (I tried as many ways of resetting windows and computer itself as I could) so I tried a factory reset. I think it may have died during the factory reset and now no shortcuts do anything and it’s stuck in a reset blue screen error loop. I saw something about resetting internal battery is that something I should do or should I give in and take it to an expert?

Yes, I've had this black screen issues after opening the back cover and after installing the additional 2.5" HDD, as after all this, I had a black screen and also power turning off issues (which was not the laptops' fault but was from an old tablet coolers usb hub) with an AN515-56. What I did is a hard reset by taking the back cover off, and disconnecting the main battery and bios battery and leaving it unplugged for 5 min and then reconnecting everything and all the black screen issues stopped, but I never had bsod's but had crashes because I had a laptop tablet cooler that was shortening the laptop out, so and if you have any usb hubs or anything like a mouse or keyboard it could be that, so check those components out.

You don't need to do a factory reset or pressing the power button, as they do nothing. Now that you have corrupted the OS you will need to do a "Clean Install" of Win-11 22H2 new version (make sure that you use Win-11) don't downgrade to Win-10, and also make sure that you completely format the boot drive and also have on a separate usb the "IRST (Intel® Rapid Storage Technology) Driver Version:18.6.1.1016.2" as you will need this driver after you have completely formatted the boot drive to continue Win-11 installation. After the Win-11 clean install, make sure that you have the new 22H2 Win-11 up to date and all Intel drivers up to date and NVidia graphics driver up to the latest version driver, as all this will make your AN515-57 operate perfectly, otherwise you could have other issues that Acer needs to look at and diagnose.

Try all that first and let us know. As and if you have downgraded to Win-10 then that could be an issue also as you should be using Win-11.

    2. Select Troubleshoot > Reset your PC.
    3. Click Next, then select Just remove my files.

Sorry I don’t understand the suggestion. Are you saying I should open the laptop disconnect the battery wait then reconnect? I don’t see how I’m gonna clean install something when all I can do is hit the power button and watch it reset loop.

Update: resetting the battery which seems to be my only option requires prying plastic pieces apart which I don’t feel comfortable doing without proper tools. This laptop has made me very frustrated I’ve had it about a year and it’s fully ceased to function. I never misused it I only downloaded a few games and adobe premier so why would it have this much trouble?Tremendous waste of money not to mention all the content I’ve lost because it pooped itself. I will be leaving negative reviews as many places as possible and never buying acer again. I have to take this to a repairman and hope it’s salvageable but I’m not very hopeful as this hunk of ***** broke for no reason in the first place.

Yes, I realise your problem and I know that its very frustrating to have a problem like you are having (especially with a virtually brand-new laptop) but, there are methods of rebooting your laptop, try to do the following:

    • 1. Shut down your laptop > Detach power chord > Remove battery > Attach power chord > Reboot your computer Windows Key+X > Device Manager > Expand Batteries > Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System > Uninstall > Shutdown the computer > Remove the power chord > Attach your battery > Attach your power chord > Reboot the computer to automatically install the driver
    • 2. Automatic repair loop usually happens because Windows 10 automatic repair failed. log file c /windows/system32/logfiles/srt/srttrail.txt or your laptop did not start correctly or bootrec.exe /fixboot access denied, so look at this guide Automatic Repair Loop Fix
  • Try resetting the battery: turn off the computer, unplug the power adapter, press the power button for thirty seconds and leave the computer off for half an hour.
