Hello Community,

I recently bought a Acer Aspire 7 A715-41G which have Ryzen 5 3550H. I noticed that usb 3.0 ports and behaving abnormal.

When I'm trying to connect any oneplus device or Iphone, these ports just charging the phone. In phone no options are coming for file sharing etc. But when I'm using usb 2.0 port options are coming it works fine but sometimes it also behave abnormal like keep disconnecting the phone.

I uninstall the usb 3.0 hub, installed all the drivers from the driver page of acer, nothing works. Previously usb 2.0 also not working I clean installed the window now 2.0 is working but sometimes making issue.

I tired to find option in bios also but I was not able to find any specific option related to usb.

Does any one can provide me suggestions what would be possible fix for this, but I'm sure this is the issue of ryzen incompatibility. I tired to check on same model laptop with intel processor that works perfectly.

Thanks in advance

Is this laptop under Acer warranty, as you said that "I recently bought a Acer Aspire 7 A715-41G which have Ryzen 5 3550H" if it is, then consult Acer support and ask them what you should do.

The USB 3.1 ports are all soldered onto and are part of the motherboard and the only thing to do if a USB 3.1 port is faulty, is to change that USB poer (which needs to be done by a tech that has all the proper tools) don't do it yourself. The left side of the laptops 3.1 USB ports connects to USB 3.1 Super Speed (USB) device. The 2.0 USB port on the right side also charges devices when the computer is off. NOTE: Devices without USB 3.1 certification may not be compatible, so that

The only thing that you can do is do this:

    1.   Press the Windows Key

    2.   Search for Device Manager

    3.   Click Device Manager once it appears

    4.   In Device Manager, look for Universal Serial Bus controllers

    5.   Click the small arrow next to the text to expand it

    6.   Right click your USB 3.1 driver, and click Properties

    7.   Click the Driver tab

    8.   Click Update Driver

Click Search automatically for updated driver software or you can use is that doesn't update your USB then use the other option of "Browse my computer me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer>and choose the USB Root Hub USB 3.0 and reinstall the driver again.

If that doesn't work, then update to the latest BIOS version:1.03. as in many cases, your motherboard will be responsible for software issues related to your USB 3.0 ports or any other ports on the motherboard. For this reason, updating to the latest BIOS may fix things.

    Thanks @StevenGen,

I recently purchased it from my friend this is out of warranty. USB 3.0 is working with maximum devices which are old like Oppo old mobile, vivo old mobile. It works fine as my keyboard mouse transmitter is also connected there only. But It won't works with one plus devices(I tested nord, 8t), It won't work with iPhone(iphone 12, 13, 14) It works oky with iphone 6, 6s, 7.

So there is no issue about faulty port. The issue is related to support devices those support 3.0.

I checked my BIOS is already up-to-date.

Any suggestions for this what should I do for this or can you direct me to drivers link for specifically for 3.0/3.1 for ryzen based system.

    Thanks in advance

I had premature turing off of my new Nitro 5, and what I found out was that it was my tablet cooler that was shortening the usb poer out, especially that it also had a 3 port usb hub that was shortening the laptop out. That might be happening to you also.

I have the same problem too but installing an old 1.03 BIOS is not possible and I have 1.10. It is my only way of getting this laptop fixed but I can't seem to do it.
