Swift SF314-43 fans still operating in sleep mode

Hi,

I've posted before about how this laptop has a weird power management issue. It won't enter sleep while plugged in. It's been like this since I got it.

So, I don't know if this new problem is related to that, but for the first time I left the laptop in sleep mode in hours, only to find when I opened it that the laptop's battery was at almost zero. It turns out that even in sleep mode the laptop fans are running continuously. Thus, draining the battery. I can actually hear them running while the lid is closed and it's in 'sleep mode'.

I ran Windows event logger and found this error - 'usb device draining system power while machine idle'. I presume that this is related to the problem?

I've done every step I can google to find a fix. I've put the laptop cooling to passive from active and I went to the BIOS settings but could not find anything related to this problem there. Windows and drivers are up to date etc.

Is there a way to fix this? I'm sick of issues with this laptop since I bought it.

I'm running Windows 10 on this laptop.

Thanks.

Yes, that makes sense in regards to a USB device pulling power when sleeping. Do you have anything actually plugged in to a port, or is it one of the builtin devices like WiFi, Bluetooth, camera, etc.? The USB 3 port on the left side (blue) supports offline charging, so provides power to whatever is plugged in, even when the laptop is off.

Strange thing is, nothing is plugged into any of the ports. And only one thing has ever been plugged into it. Could it be faulty USB port?

It could be a background app or driver staying awake. Try running in Safe Mode with Networking to see if it happen there.

Try updating your BIOS it might help, because Acer had left bugs in sleep mode on it's BIOS with some of the AMD laptops.
