I made a post like this three days ago but I didn't word it properly so people misunderstood it and I didn't give all the info about my laptop. I have a Nitro 5 AN515-55 that HAD a Nvidia graphics driver on it. I lost said driver because I followed a faulty tutorial while trying to replace it. I've been trying to reinstall it ( NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 display adapter ) but haven't had any luck due to my computer acting like there never was one to begin with. I would really appreciate any solution to this so I can just play good game again. What's the point of a gaming laptop if it can't even run most games.

As I stated, I'm trying to get back a driver I uninstalled. I don't know how restarting the computer would get it back but it didn't work anyways. I've tried downloading a new one that way but it just won't install. All I'll get is a message saying "Driver is not compatible with this system" despite one being there when I got the laptop. I can't use GeForce experience or Nvidia control panel because there is no driver on the pc right now. I'd really Appreciate a solution to reinstalling the one I had before.

If it is still not working..

Sometimes a simple system restore will fix the issue..

    Try windows x

click on power shell admin or command prompt admin

    type rstrui

chose an earlier date on which your computer was working fine

    click on next, finish, yes

It will restore your computer to an earlier date

if you get an message - system restore not completed - click on close

It will show you all the icons..

Try and check whether it is working now ..

    It should work fine.

Again, these imply I still have it. I don't have it and the only promising one was the system restore solution but that didn't work since it only would go back to yesterday.

If it is still not working then we have to do a refresh and reset

click on start - settings - update and security - recovery - reset this pc - get started

    or

on start - type here to search - type reset this pc - click on reset this pc on the top - click on get started

It will show you keep my files and remove everything

    chose keep my files

chose the account - type the password - click on local reinstall - click on reset

    It will be in progress..

login to computer and start using the computer.

If it is still not working

click on start - settings - update and security - recovery - reset this pc - get started

    chose remove everything

click on local reinstall - just remove my files - click on reset

    It will be in progress

    Note:

If you do refresh ( keep my files ) - all your personal files like pictures, music , documents , videos will still be intact.  Only the applications will be lost

If you do reset ( remove everything ) - you are doing a factory default.  It will become like a day one computer.  It will wipe out everything and take your computer to day one like a new computer.

You can also do the recovery in an alternative way..

There are two alt keys on the keyboard. If you look at the bottom row of keyboard you can see the one on the left side of space bar and the other on the right side of space bar. The alt key on the right side will be looking like alt, alt gr or alt car. Turn off the computer. Hold the alt key on the left and tap f10 continuously.  It will go to repair mode. It will show you chose an option, continue, troubleshoot.  If it is not going to repair mode, turn off the computer. Turn on the computer. Hold the right alt key ( alt gr or alt car or alt ) and then tap f10 continuously. It will go to chose an option continue and troubleshoot..

It will show you chose an option, continue, troubleshoot

Go to troubleshoot - click on reset this pc

click on keep my files ( only applications will be lost )  chose your account and type your password  - click on local reinstall - click on reset

    It will be in progress

If the keep my files option is not working

Go to troubleshoot - click on reset this pc – click on remove everything – click on local reinstall – just remove my files – click on reset

    It will reinstall windows.

If the just remove my files is not working..

Go to troubleshoot - click on reset this pc – click on remove everything – click on local reinstall – Fully clean the drive – click on reset

    It will reinstall windows.

Note: You can also go to chose an option , continue , troubleshoot by holding the alt key + tapping f10 or alt gr + tapping f10 on the keyboard while turning on the computer.  Once you see the troubleshoot option, you can stop tapping the f10 and stop holding the alt key.  Then you can try the keep my files and remove everything ( just remove by files and fully clean the drive ) by following the steps which was mentioned above.

None of these worked, I even went and completely reset my computer. I appreciate the effort to find a solution for me to retrieve it. I just want a way to easily download the driver I had and reinstall it without my pc telling me that it can't support it.

  • Install and follow the DUU guide as you need to completely uninstall any previous NVidia drivers offline and install the new NVidia driver for your gpu offline also (btw, which gpu is it, as the AN515-55 has different gpu's?) and do it that way, also install the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant to get all the Intel drivers and especially the graphics driver up to the latest version.

This is how I install all the NVidia new drivers for my AN515-56 gpu's and btw as I'm writing this to you, I've just has a notification from Intel and the above scan, about a new graphics version update that is the Version: 31.0.101.3430 Release date: September 27, 2022 which is also compatible with your AN515-55, also and if you are using Win-11 update to the last version (just released) 22H2 OS build 22621.521 and all updates, otherwise and if all this does not work then you have major NVidia gpu chip problems and your mobo needs replacing.

When you go to device manger - beneath display adapter - please inform the name of the display adapter driver you see.

Do you see any yellow triangle or !

Have you added any new adapter to your laptop physically..
