For the last 2 weeks, im using my laptop by disabling the rtx 2060 graphic card from device manager. When i try to enable it, the screen gets frozen and there is a blue screen saying DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION. I took it to service center where they said there is some issue with graphic card and suggested using my laptop without graphic card. Today after i was done playing Valorant (while gfx card is disabled), there was a Windows Update and i installed it. The graphic card worked fine for some time and i went out. After coming back, I checked it and it started giving the same error. Now i disabled it again. My laptop is out of warranty, so replacing a motherboard is not possible. I tried reinstalling windows and it worked fine for some time and gave the error again. I dont know if its related but the error started coming after I copied valorant from a friend's pc. Does anyone have any idea to fix this? Thank You.

Hello, I'm assuming you mean the DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION error and if so then I dont think its related to games. Even when I enable the graphic card while not playing, the screen gets frozen and the blue screen occurs.

  • Is your laptop still under warranty?

  • You need to update your drivers and/or even the bios on your PH315-53. especially with all Intel drivers and their graphics and also the NVidia graphics drivers and all windows updates have to be up to date. Also enable the TRIM in windows as that assists your SSD to work more efficiently with your OS

Follow this guide of what DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION is and how to fix it

As one of the main reasons why you get the “PC WATCHDOG VIOLATION” error is when your device driver(s) is outdated or violated like in your case that game that you installed wrongly. Also and for example, if you haven’t installed the video card driver properly the DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION could easily happen when you try to watch a video online or play games. In some cases, incompatible hardware with your operating system can be the cause as well. For example,

Hey @StevenGen, I tried updating all the drivers and also followed the guide for DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION but it still doesn't work. I don't know why but the graphic card says it's working properly in the device manager but it is not showing in the task manager and also it doesn't work anywhere else. I think the DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION error got fixed somehow but still, the issue is there with the graphic card. I tried reinstalling the graphics driver but still no use.

Hey  RevanthY, don’t know which gpu your PH315-53 has, as you haven't told us? As this laptop has either the GTX-1650ti or 1660ti or the RTX-2060? As imo there is something very wrong with how you maintain this laptops gpu and overall drivers, because and as I've said before, your drivers are not up to date and this is especially that your PH315-53's vbios that Acer has an update for and its the "Nvidia discrete VGA VBIOS and improve performance Version: v101a" and also its main bios needs flashing to last Version: 2.04 (very important) but and note, don't do these vbios and main bios update flashes if you haven't done this before, as you can brick your gpu and laptop and I suggest that. you take your laptop to an experienced tech that has experience in doing this and/or analyzing the exact gpu problems that you have, be very careful and aware of all this as Acer warns all users "Upgrading your system BIOS incorrectly could harm your Acer product. Please proceed with caution.! "

Also, and I strongly suggest that you install all the Intel latest and appropriate drivers for your laptop by installing the the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant scan that updates all the PROCESSOR, GRAPHICS, AUDIO, NETWORKING AND I/O, MEMORY and STORAGE offered for your laptop and also uninstall completely all the NVidia drivers offline with DUU and then installing the latest Nvidia Update driver for your gpu at http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=e...

For Display issues one simple fix that works is to Roll back or Uninstall the Driver on the Display Device > Driver tab, restart PC to reinstall driver. You can also try older drivers in Device Manager > Display device > Driver tab > Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick. As after doing all this, you will know you've tried everything in addition to Windows Update drivers as it must be that your gpu is faulty which entails that you need to replace the motherboard of your PH315-53.

Hey StevenGen, maybe it is the issue with the GPU itself as all the drivers were updated and I was already on the latest BIOS version. But I wonder why the GPU worked sometimes by itself for like a day before giving the error again.
