Overheating of Acer Aspire 5 usually happens if the fan or the heat sink is blocked with dirt and dust. It is best to vacuum the laptop through the vents so that the dirt and dust are sucked out. If overheating persist, it's best to open the back cover and clean them.

What is the exact Nitro 5 model number like AN515-xx as all Nitro's overheat because of their thermal paste or fans or as mentioned above their vents are blocked with felt and dust but, the main culprit is the fans bearings as they are probably not functioning to their 100% efficiency hence you get overheating. Check all the above and repaste the CPU/GPU with a high grade paste with a thin equal layer over the CPU/GPU's paste area and then put the thermal module on top and its also good practice (especially if the laptop is old and has been used extensively for hard core gaming) to change the fans with new ones and also change the thermal pads wherever they are to new ones, as all this will make your laptop function like new. Also and if you play hard core games for long periods of time get a high end laptop tablet cooler as that helps to reduce heat also.

No its basically switching off turbo boost which is the primary reason for the processor hitting such high temps. If u r using it for games that are not that processor intensive but rather gpu intensive you can switch off turbo boost and it should run fine. My Nitro5 Ryzen doesn't run at 90C.

Same happening to my Nitro 5 AN517-54. Its 2 days old and runs at 80-90*c (gpu and cpu) while playing World of Warcraft. Even the keyboard is quite hot to touch.

When I'm using my Nitro on Windows it gets hot even if use only Chrome with a one tab. I tried to switch to Ubuntu 22.04, and now my laptop keeps cold when i use Chrome (20+ tabs), Intellij IDEA, docker and spotify, also fans run in minimum speed. So if u use ur laptop for work or development, I recommend to switch to any linux.
