Hello. I just got an acer nitro an517-54.
Right out of the box keyboard backlight is not working properly. It works when I turn on the laptop but it turns off after. It’s doesn’t have RGB backlight, it’s only the red backlight. Please note that the Keyboard Timeout is disable, and most importantly because I know what you'll propose as first solution FN+F9 or FN+F10 don't work. It has zero effect, nothing happens. Any help?

does it let you configure it within nitro sense, and have you tried just the Fn keys incase its Fnlock (just to discount it :) )

Nitro sense doesn’t let me configure the backlight and yes I tested the other fn keys and they are working, the fn+f9/f10 are not working

    Hi @ Nove

Make sure the Keyboard backlit option is enabled in the BIOS. With the computer powered off, press the power button. Immediately start pressing the F2 key once per second (if the computer boots into Windows, shut down the computer and try again). Click the + sign next to System Configuration

The computer BOOT normally you see the KEYBOARD LIGHT RED for about 30 seconds before it shut-up.

    YES the computer is PLUGED.

YES the stupid option in NITRO SENSE is DISABLED

You don't want ENABLED since it activate the TIMER to kill the light. You want the option to be DISABLED

  • @labidus and @Acecustoms Try pressing just the f10 key. If the problem continues, try pressing fn+f10 and altgr+f10. If the option is not showing in nitro sense, enable this function in regedit:

Thank you for your help, the F10 or any FN F10 do nothing. I checked in the registry and it was already enabled. But in NitroSense I don't see the KEYBOARD button to configure the color. I only see the option to active/deactivate the timeout for the light.

Unfortunately sound like they are an issue with some driver somewhere. My BIOS is recent but I know 1.18 exists but I don't want to install it as a guess to resolve one issue since it could create other...

@egydiocoelho what do you have in the light settings from the registry?

I want to compare to see if something is different from your settings!

By seeing the registry I saw something weird mentioning.. It could be the issue.

DefaultPowerSchemeDC and DefaultPowerSchemeAC have the same UUID. It should be different like @egydiocoelho .

  • What happens when you uninstall nitro sense, restart windows and then press fn+f10, just f10 and altgr+f10?

I ended up renaming this exe

    "C:\Program Files\Acer\NitroSense Service\PSAdminAgent.exe"

so this stupid service does not shutup the light.
