CPU of my Predator PT515-52 is always running at high frequency (around 3.80 GHz), even if the system is idle. All updates installed. I bought it two months ago so it's almost brand new.

The maximum working time on the low power plan is about 1.5/2h.

What could be the reason?

Yes. I did a system recovery, it helped for a day and the problem came back.
  • OK! What happens when you lower the tdp?

I don't have this setting. Based on your screenshot, it should be where the arrow is pointing.

Of course, I installed the drivers for Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework.

I also installed Throttlestop to monitor the CPU and there is an option to turn off the turbo. When I turn it off, the clock speed drops, you can see it in the screenshots. I don't know, but it looks like the turbo is always on.

Literally nothing. Only if I change to high performance plan the CPU clock rises over 4000MHz. The battery life is the same for balanced and power saving plan.

Dzifford according to your pics TS its not even on so not working at all no matter which setting you change they will not get applied as its not even on if you want to use TS make sure you know what youre doing and how to work with it check techpowerup for advice on how all settings work so you dont brick everything and get into endless crash boot loop mode for which i advise to enable the old legacy F8 boot menu via cmd so if you get stuck you can boot into safe mode and delete the conf manually otherwise get a ready conf for you cpu and dont touch it just make sure its on and set it up to auto startup either on task scheduler or startup folder also check your battery wear percentage with hwinfo or battery bar pro if its more than 15/20% consider replacing it asap either under warranty by acer or if out of warranty by yourself good luck :)

Sorry to bump this thread again. I have the same issue as yours. Have you found any fix?

I am facing the same issue whenever I check the cps test by using any website just like as https://cpstesters.com/. Trying to find its solution. If I find then I will let you know about it.

i HAD SAME EXACT SITUATION TOO... only way for me to get it down. was to go to the power settings -> advance settings -> then depending on what ever power plan youre on... im on High performance.. if you scroll down the "processor power management section" under maximum processor state, it WAS at 100% (plugged in always)... if you knock it down to 98-99% youll see it drop.. open up the task manager performance section. an watch it drop from 3.6ghz to about 2.3ghz.... thats the only way i can get it down for me. mines totally stock.. i dont have any of those programs above ^^ i just noticed one day. my computer was overly hott. running. an i looked at all the performance an noticed everything was maxed out. the laptop ran in the 3.5-4.0ghz while at startup running idle.. i looked for like 3 days over forums. an knocking down the % of the processor management is what brought it down to a decent number... now i just discovered this website of everyone with predators.. now my issue is. mine running HOT sometimes.. i see poeple saying there laptop runs like in like 65-70c when gaming.. mine runs like at 75c. ive seen it get to like 78c. which is 180F... idk if thats super hot . or what. it feels Hot asf... idk maybe im trippin. i even refreshed all the old thermal paste . redid the thermalpads on the tiny chips... aint make much of a diff either... but now that i have lowerd down the cpu to 98% it tends to stay cooler.. its wierd too cause my fans dont seem to run max when it gts to 180f.. they go maybe 3/4 way max... its on COOLboost too. but idk.. let me know if that worked

Oh ! I also found another setting that could be messing with it. If you go to the Nvidia control panel open it. Manage 3d settings -> mines on high performance... But in the settings there is ALSO ANOTHER POWER MANAGEMENT MODE !! I just seen this. Mine is at maximum performance! I think that's the Real problem. there's a adaptive, maximum performance, Nvidia driver control and consistent performance selection. I bet if you changed that. It would fix this problem ! I haven't tried it myself. But I gairentee that's gotta be the real fix instead of turning down the %s. Try this one also. An let me know.

It has nothing to do with the issue, this is only for dedicated GPU.

I have exactly the same issue with my PT515-51 i7-8750h. Lowering the max CPU usage to 99% works, but that is not an ideal solution. Has anyone managed to fix the issue?
