What is low resolution setting of your PC 's GPU? Please post screenshot of Windows display settings like shown below.

As you can see the resolution in Windows is set to 1024x768, which is much lower than the supported resolutions of the monitor and at a 4:3 aspect ratio. The monitor wants to display at 2560x1440, a 16:9 aspect ratio. Neither of those are 1:1, 1:1 would be something like 1440x1440 or 768x768. Are you sure that is what you are really trying for? I know of no monitors that are designed for an 1:1 aspect ratio. For best clarity I suggest telling Windows to use 2560x1440 and change the scale to give you the icon size that works best for you. It will be a 16:9 aspect ratio but stuff won't be distorted.

If 1024 x 768 is the lowest resolution you can switch to, then the lowest possible aspect ratio is 1.33 for this monitor displayport signal combination. There might be more flexibility at lower resolutions and scaling by using HDMI signals but probably not by much.

Square aspect format monitors are usually used with industrial, scientific & closed-circuit apps, not with consumer apps that are oriented toward rectangular aspect format monitors & TV sets.
