I've had my laptop for a few years now and recently my S key only works when hitting it hard enough. This actually fixes the key for a little while till it stops working again and I have to fix it. My warranty has ran out at this point so I wanna know if there's anyway I can fix this.
Usually due to sticky debris (food crumbs) and hair that accumulates on the key switch under the S key cover. Use a soft cosmetic facial blush brush from a drug or department store to gently dig under the sides of the key covers to loosen this contamination. It helps to blow air on the keys at the same time to help remove from the keyboard. Be careful not to use the brush too vigorously or the key cover might pop off. Key covers can sometimes be difficult to put back on.
Tried this a few times before hand and once again now and has done nothing.
Then continue to keep trying. Keep digging under it and blowing with compressed air at the same time until the key starts to work better. You either keep trying to get all the debris out from under the key or you might have to the replace the keyboard and top cover --- a lot more expensive.
after me constantly trying and it only getting worse. I remove the key cap to see if that was the issue and its not, the rubber part when be clicked is having the same issue. So im guessing the keyboard itself is the problem
Sorry. Google search your full Nitro 5 model (for example AN515-43) + keyboard for vendors who ship keyboards or top covers to your location. Keyboards are relatively inexpensive (less than about $30usd for red backlit) but those that are integrated with top cover and palmrest are much more expensive (about $100usd)
What is the exact model? Example AN515-55-58VH.
