Hi, I need your help please.
After cloning smaller 500 GB HDD of Aspire E-5-576 NI6Q2 to larger 1TB  HDD do I need to make changes in BIOS/Boot drive? If so how I can do that please suggest. Also any suggestion for cloning HDD which tool I can use? First should I format the new HDD? Does Disk letter such as C, D etc matter?
Thank you

Hi brummyfan2, thank you very much for the reply with useful URL links. I read the Macrium free guide only did not follow when it comes to ", follow these instructions to resize partitions before proceeding with steps seven to ten."  I meant resizing part. I will try to read again.
One question, before doing anything I need to initialize the new 1TB hard disk right? do I also assign any alphabetical letter such as C or D etc.?
    Thank you once again.

You are welcome, I would suggest you use dragging partitions method to clone the drive, leave the main OS partition as the last partition next to unallocated partition, you can extend the OS partition to the unallocated partition using Disk Management.
Try to keep the Acer partition(normally C:) on the far right just before the unallocated space, when you drag the partitions, you can choose the order they appear in the new drive.

Hi, In Macrium reflect free the partition resizing is kind of difficult to follow but AOMEI soft seem easy one. I wonder if you have used any one of these.  In the last post you wrote
" I would suggest you use dragging partitions method to clone the drive, leave the main OS partition as the last partition next to unallocated partition, you can extend the OS partition to the unallocated partition using Disk Management."
By main OS you meant the larger one that should be on the extreme right. Pleases refer screen shot.(sorry in Japanese)
    Thank you for your help.

No problem, yes the partition at the end has to be "Acer (C:), this is the order: 100MB, 1.00GB, Acer (C:), Unallocated space.

Yes, I have tried AOMEI and Macrium reflect but I prefer Macrium Reflect for it's speed, you can use either of them, both are good programs.

Hi, thank you very much for your help.
    You are welcome  :)

Brummyfan2, sorry for disturbing you again and again. I had completely forgotten to ask as my OS Windows 10 is in Japanese and using English software for cloning will work and language will not be an issue right. Thank you.

    Hi,
No problem, I think it will work but in any case,  please join Macrium forum and inquire to make sure, if it's not possible, try using MiniTool Partition wizard.

Hi brummyfan2, if you read my message please reply. Due to hand fracture things got slow sorry.
As in this post you have asked me that the Acer C partition has to be at the end. Just for clarification, when the C partition is on the end to resize the partition and utilize un-allocated space I will click on clone partition property inn the Macrium free and can use Maximum size button or drag the slider to the extreme right. Do you think is that OK?
    Thank you always for guidance.

    Hi,
No problem, I would suggest you drag the partitions in this order, Red first, Green second and finally Orange coloured partitions, then once you completed the clone, you will have 100MB(Red), 1.00GB(Green), Acer(C:) Orange and at the end you will have Unallocated space.
Now when you boot with the new drive, go to Disk Management, right click Acer(C:) partition and select Expand, it will expand to the Unallocated space.

Hi brummyfan2, I am sorry for becoming late. Due to my right hand injury things were slow and Windows 10 had to be re-installed by Tech. guys now it is Windows 10- 21 H2.

Fast forward, Used Macrium Reflect Free to clone Windows, as you had suggested I drag and dropped partitions and the Acer C at the end after the clone completion, used Disk Management and re-sized the last partition please refer the screen shot. Last question, do I need to change the Cloned drive letter to C, or if I just replace the old drive with the cloned larger drive will be enough?

If in the screen shot you feel there should be some changes or else please advice.

Thank you for your help always.

It's OK, sorry to hear about the injury and hope you have recovered, you don't have to change the drive letter and just replace the old drive with the new cloned drive, cloned drive looks fine.

Hi brummyfan2, thank you very much for the reply.

I am using larger cloned drive, everything is fine except one thing in MS Outlook I get this message.

If you know anything, otherwise you are always very helpful.

    Thank you very much.
