My ED242QR Moniter fades to black after a while of being on.

Completely fades to black, just backlit, I have tried switching the connection ports, its a DVR connection. When I leave it unplugged for a while then try it, it works for a bit but then fades to black again, any ideas?

Do you mean that you can still see the LED backlight bleed through the black screen?

Do you have another monitor to check that the signal source is OK. How do you have the dvr hooked up? Adapters?

So it seems the problem is with just the monitor, because when I turn it on the logo doesn't display, just the backlight.

Yes, that indicates an hardware problem with the monitor. Swap it out with the vendor if it's new enough or contact Acer support for warranty repair of not.

Just as an additional info for you to know and if you intend changing the screen yourself? Make sure that you look at the Acer part number of the OEM Acer screen on the back of your OEM screen that your Nitro has and match that, dont buy a screen by just your Nitro model number and also before you unplug the old screen and replace the new screen "unplug the main battery first" as if you dont, you will do damage to the new screen and the mobo, be warned as this is a critical mistake that allot of DIY consumers do.

Shut the monitor off. Remove all the cables including AC power. Press and hold the power button for about a minute.

Only plug AC power back in. Turn the machine on. Does the logo show up now?

With the PC turned off, what happens when you turn the monitor on first, wait a minute or two then boot the PC?

The problem is with the moniter not even displaying the logo, so the PC has nothing to do with that issue

Yes, I understand that. But some monitors require a certain startup sequence be followed. All we want to test is if the startup sequence makes any difference in the monitor detecting the signal, irrespective of whether or not a logo shows up. So please test with the PC turned off. Then turn the monitor on first. Don't worry about the logo right now. Wait a miniute or two.  Then boot the PC.

Gotcha, just tested it out and still nothing, pc reconises the moniter but no image is being displayed and the moniter is just stuck on with the backlight

Its mainboard seems OK. So looks like the back cover has to come off to check connections between the mainboard and panel itself. Might simply need re-seating a few times to help clean the contacts. You'll have to google search the keywords 'ed242qr' 'disassembly' for help because service documentation for some of these monitors are poor or incomplete. .

With all power turned off, try re-seating the cable connectors a few times at the PC and monitor to help clean the video signal connections.
