ACER PH315 - 52
Came with 16gb ram, 500gb storage I believe.

So, I've had this computer since January and these problems have been showing up for about three months or so. Basically, the charger would only work sometimes - I'd have to move it around in the charging port to get it to work. I bought a new charger and the problem persisted. Around this time, I also had decided to upgrade my computer's RAM (to 32 gb) and SSD (to 1.5 tb) which I managed to do successfully. Eventually, the problem became unbearable. I purchased a replacement charging port and installed it and the problem SOMEWHAT went away but still persisted in that it wouldn't work sometimes. Now it's returned to as it was before and doesn't work at all. I accidentally drained the battery last night and now it won't charge at all - no light or anything. I've spent around seventy five additional dollars at this points, on a new charging port and charger.

Is my warranty void or what should I do?

I have this same problem. My port is loose and I've tried with my knowledge to keep the port stable and solid but it just goes back to switching off and on. It's kinda like with the old smartphones when your charger is busted and you have to move it into the sweet spot in order to work. it is super frustrating. if there is a solution to this I'm sure I and this lad who made this form would very much appreciate it if someone could help.

I am having the same problem with my Acer Predator Helios PH315. I've had it for about 1 1/2 year, it is a beast PC that can do my small video editing tasks. My charging port is as @Louxgarou , where I have to wiggle it in place for it to be charging. And it is not consistent, after a while it will show a battery level warning and then I'll have to wiggle the cable in place. I cannot touch the charger cable or it loses connection and then the battery dies. I'm searching for a fix locally and believe it has a price I am willing to pay. I must say that I honestly don't believe there has been any damage to the charging port, it seems to be worn out with time, but I never experienced so and it is a very unstable way of using my Predator Helios. The Laptop is Amazing and super powerful for my daily tasks.

So I’m having the same issue with my son’s Acer Predator Helios 300 as well. I have tested multiple new charging cables just to be sure the cable itself wasn’t defective. I sent this laptop back to Acer twice for repair while it was under warranty, only for them to send it back with a replacement charger and tell me it was fixed! (which it most definitely is not) So now I’m sending it back to Asurion for the 3rd time under the extended warranty I purchased through Amazon. They have also sent it back to me twice now without having actually repaired the issue. The last time they replaced the battery and called it good even though I have explained to both companies in my notes that this is not an issue with the battery but with the charging port itself being defective. On that note I actually purchased an OEM replacement charging port and replaced it myself with the same results. The problem is that the charging port itself is poorly designed and after a very short time of use it expands slightly, no longer allowing the charging cable to make a good connection. This is a 100% a manufacturing defect that Acer needs to own up to and put out a recall for these defective units, end of story!!

I Aniket singh wants to address an issue where my laptop(acer predator helios 300 PH315-52) 2019 model is having a major charging issue
The DC socket has been expanded due to heating of the laptop my charging pin has no grip when plugging in the port it just doesn’t charge my laptop the port is so loosened up. i feel like The charging DC port is itself poorly designed which gets loosened up in 1 and half year of use only (this is also a issue to many other Customers and is posted on google also OFFICIAL SERVICE AND SUPPORT ACER PREDATOR). Due to this issue i am facing losses in my studies and projects which can cost me a year more in college.!!! Please look up to my situation ACER INDIA.
I have went to ACER SERVICE CENTRE
Where they suggested me to get a new charging brick since that is not my issue my charger is fine it is just that the DC port socket is loose. They also said that there is no guarantee that after changing DC port we will be able to resolve the charging issue, which is when I connect to a charger i need to wiggle it to make a connection if one touch or slight change in my position the charging stops.
New charger which the service centre guy gave me also stopped charging in 1 month which costed me 6500INR
and they are saying that the DC port will cost another 5000INR, that is a lot of money when you have already spend 130000INR on a premium laptop.

i just don’t get the fact when i spend so much money on this premium laptop and i get this charging port issue which used to happen in older mobile phones where you have to hold the cable in a certain position to charge the device.
please dont make the customer suffer from these expenses as the company wont gain much profit out of it they will only loose respect and dignity of the name and quality i am so sad that i have to face this issue.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact Acer for repair. Don't open up your laptop trying to repair yourself to void the warranty.

i used to connect and disconnect the charger for like 4 to 5 times a day for about 1 year then the charging issues came, the service centre person told me that my charger brick is broken so he made me purchase a new one then after using it for 2 months barely the same problem started again
so clearly its the jack which is of low quality which cant be used regularly for even 2 years which is a shame on the company product manufacturing and quality side.
it seems now i will  have to spend another 5k for then new DC port, after spending 1.50k on a premium gaming laptop.

From all the info I gathered so far, I tend to believe it is the power jack connector (not the power brick side) got worn out. Try replace it and try to minimize the number of times you connect and disconnect the charger if possible.

Can you test the power adapter and the dcin jack connector with a multimeter on the direct current scale?

I am having exactly the same issue with my charging port. I have had my Helios 300 for two years and I'm constantly having to move the charging cable around, literally every few minutes, because it doesn't charge otherwise. I have tried a replacement power cable but that has made no difference, so the issue must be with the cheaply made, poorly designed laptop. it cost over $1500. Now, I will need to buy another one. Acer are a disgrace for not having addressed this issue.

The problem is the design of the male insert that connects to the port on the laptop, they should have made and L shaped but instead it is straight allowing any movement to wear on the socket, Acer should make a L shaped connector that you can plug the straight plug into then plug that into the laptop, they can make the fit tight so it doesn't fall out. This is what a reputable company would do but is Acer and reputable company who treats their customers with respect? I guess if they do not see this post and reply… that will tell you if they are a reputable company or not.

    Hi Aniket

I am facing a similar issue to yours and I am fed up with Acer.

I have purchased two new chargers for Rs 4200 each and each worked for a month or two and the same issue again.

The culprit here is the loose charging port, which does not form a tight grip over the charging pin. I have to move the cable or push it a little bit to make it work but this works only sometimes and I am tired of this. Half of my time on laptop goes on to resolve this issue.

Have you found any solution to this?

    Thank you
