Liquid E2 false roaming message

Hi

My brand new Liquid E2 pops up a message that I'm roaming and the bar on top shows the "R" near the signal strength scale, while my phone is absolutely not roaming. I know it's possible to turn off this message if I wnat to, but how would I know then if I am REALLY roaming when abroad or in border areas. I bought this phone to be able to pop in foreign sim-cards while travelling, so if this doesn't work, I'm returning the phone.

Thank you for your quick reply (I'm travelling tomorrow!)

Cheers,

C.

I have the same issue on the E1 duo and was talking to the tech support about the matter.

They had absolutely no understanding on this as a phone or firmware issue and told me that it was a problem with my provider. Didn't matter how I told them that it was no problem with the same SIM cards on other phones with three different providers, so I guess it's a problem (if they are aware of it) won't be fixed.

My provider share network with other providers and as a result of that the network name doesn't match up with the provider name. The same problem arises with virtual providers using other provider's nets.

So right now, and probably for the foreseeable future, the roaming functionality is useless as it has to be switched off.

I have the E2 and the same problem but think it is a bit of a non issue. I am overseas now and have my UK work sim in slot 2 and a local sim in slot 1. I have roaming switched off, but it still shows an "R" next to my UK sim. However, I see no reason why it needs to be on in this situation because the roaming is only for data - I can still receive calls and texts (and make them) using the UK sim.

...and I'm using the local sim for data and as it's not roaming, data still works fine.

It could be an issue for a couple of reasons.

If I am close to a border in my own country (not living in GB then), I have to select between the risc of roam on the provider on the other side of the border, or turn off the data usage.

And as I use my phone as a work phone, my company has turned off the possibility to receive mail from the exchange server when roaming with a policy in the server. That means that I can`t use most of the mail programs, a the check the policies for this.

Actually, forget my comments - the "R" notification is correct, although I have roaming data switched off it is just data and not the calls and texts.
