Hey guys.  What thermal pad thickness's do I need for a repaste of my CPU/GPU heatsink?  I am going to buy Gelid or Thermalright.

IMO the best paste and thermal products come from the “Thermal Grizzly range”. Have a look at their products here, as their range is massive and if your AN515-54 overheats then their Conductonaut liquid metal paste is a high quality product to reduce heat (but be very careful how you apply this paste and follow their guide) with the pad, they have the Carbonaut carbon thermal pads, minus pads that is a silicone based with modelling clay like consistency and the minus 8 that consist of  a very elastic and flexible surface area with very high thermal conductivity, also measure the thickness that your OEM pads are, as their range caters for every thickness that you will require!

Thank you for the link.  I ordered 1mm Gelid Ultimate pads for now.  But I have bookmarked the thermal grizzly site you linked.  And I am using this for my CPU/GPU.

For anyone interested in this thread I did the re-paste and temps are down 10* C @ mid 80's C playing BF5 (my processor got really hot playing that game) with ambient temps around 22* C.  I did a total re-paste replacing the thermal pads and the thermal putty/grease as well (very hard to work with).  If you don't know what I mean by thermal putty here is a linkAlso, the thermal pad thickness is 1mm for anyone who needs to know.

    The products I used were:
    1.  CPU/GPU compound Thermal Grizzly Kryonaught
    2.  Thermal putty/grease K5 Pro
    3.  Thermal pads Gelid Ultimate

    *notes:
    1.  A total of 9 screws were needed to remove the CPU/GPU heatsink.
    2. When placing the plastic bottom back on do not torque in the least as you will break the fragile plastic and be stuck ordering a new one as I am (ugh).
    3.  I use Locktight 222 for all screws.
    4.  Again, this is for model AN515-54-728C
    5.  I cleaned using a microfiber towel (the smooth eye glasses type) and used only the surface purifier from Arcticlean.

I hope this will help someone out.

@andybig77 nice! what are the temps for both CPU and GPU when you are playing? I used the same products as yours but the CPU temps sometimes reach 90C so I replaced the Kyronaut paste on the CPU with Conductonaut Liquid Metal instead. The GPU still uses the thermal paste.
My model is also AN515-54 with I5-9300H with GTX 1650.
Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
Thank you and have a nice day!

@AnhEZ28  At it's hottest the CPU reached 87*C and the GPU hot spot was the same @ 87*C.  The GPU itself runs about 10*C cooler.  I feel like Acer could/should release a new V-Bios for GPU's, for more power, as they don't seem to run hot.

I am very curious to know what your CPU temps are with the liquid metal?  If I ever have to re-paste again I will probably go that route.

@andybig77 around 83-85C for the CPU and 70C for the GPU. Coolboost is off. The games that I tested are Cyberpunk and GTAV

WOW!  That's great!  A nice temperature drop from 90*'s (with a re-paste).  That puts you in a very comfortable temperature range.

Did you replace the thermal pads and putty as well?  Any YouTube video's you might be able to point me towards with the liquid metal application method you used?

@andybig77 I use K5-pro for the GPU VRAM. Other components are still thermal pads because they might be very messy to clean up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pck3OOEG3eQ
Here is one of the videos that I referred.
I taped the shrouding CPU with 2 layers of electrical tape.

@AnhEZ28 Thanks!  I'll be having a beverage tonight and watching this video (and others) and learning how to apply the liquid metal!
