Hello Everyone,

Until last night my battery lasted at least 4-5 hours of working browsing. just today after unplugging the laptop it just died!! it shows the battery fully charged but as soon as I unplug it the screen goes dark and the computer has to restart after plugging back in.

is there an update or setup change I should do to get it back to normal?

Thanks

The dead battery when unplugged in issues could be from numerous sources, take the back cover off by undoing the 13 securing screws, then make sure that you have an anti static wrist band fitted before you unplug the battery (and/or touch or do anything with circuitries inside the laptop) and unplug the main battery, also unplug the CMOS bios battery (the small black battery at the right side of the main battery, that powers the bios chip) and leave both unplugged for a few minutes and then plug the batteries back in, this will reset the battery and the laptops bios, as your A715-75G is only a new laptop that its OEM battery should have no issues with wear and tear and/or charging issues. Also after and after you reconnected both batteries it will take like 1 minute for the laptop to reset its bios, so be patient and see if the laptop powers on and/or powers on on battery power only? If not then do a battery report and see the exact battery charge state of your battery by doing the following:

    1. Open the command prompt.

    2. Type in:

                    powercfg /batteryreport

    3. Make sure all hidden folders are shown

    4. Open the report in: Users/your name or computer name/ Battery report.html

If all the above does not fix your issues, it could also be a faulty charger/adaptor (which its specs should be - Input Rating: 135W / Maximum Input AC Current: 2A maximum at input voltage within the low range as specified in paragraph 2.1 and at any combination of loading conditions / Output voltage: The power supply average efficiency shall be more than 88% at 115Vac/ 60Hz and more than 89% at 230Vac/50Hz.The efficiency of 10% load shall be more than 79% at 230V/50Hz,

So check all those specs out (if you have the tools and know how to?) and if your charger is ok and working 100% as that could also be an issue (don't worry about what the windows taskbar battery indicates, as allot of times its reading is not correct of what your true battery state is) also check the DC-In cable/port (Acer part #:  50.Q89N2.002) as that could be faulty/damaged which is a component that is the first link between the charger to the laptop and to the charging circuitry components to charge the main battery, which this has a plug that plugs into the motherboard and its plug could be not be plugged in properly or faulty.

If all this is ok then its an internal circuitry problem(s) that needs diagnosing by an experienced technician that has all the appropriate tools and parts, that can test every power/charging component of your laptops circuitries and find out why your laptop does not work on battery power only? Btw, this laptops OEM batteries that Acer fits is either the Murata AP18C4K 4200mAh or the LG AP18C8K 4471mAh batteries if your battery is at fault, which would be very unusual for such a new laptop to have, as you must have got a faulty battery with your laptop from new. Good luck and hope this was of some sort of help to you to diagnose and rectify your problem.

Thank you Steven for your detailed information. I won't open up the laptop myself but thanks. it used to work at least 4-5 hours unplugged 2 days ago and all of the sudden battery shows 100% but not working even a second without being plugged in. I thought it might be an update issue or something to take it back.
