Can't register Kindle for PC app w/Amazon because the app incorrectly thinks cookies Spin 5

I have been using the Amazon Kindle for PC app for 2 years on my Acer Spin 5.  The Notebook function never worked.  I thought maybe Amazon had fixed a bug, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it hoping for a fix.  I could not register the app after the install.  After login, I get the Message "Please Enable Cookies to Continue".  My cookies have always been enabled.
Since then, I have spent 3 weeks working with Amazon, both first and second level support trying to figure out why their app thinks my laptop is blocking cookies.  After they exhausted everything they knew to do, they told me to contact Acer.  I have up to date Windows 10 and am using Edge which is also up to date.  During troubleshooting with Amazon, I tried it with Chrome and got the same result.  Can anyone help?

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that the Kindle app was still trying to use IE... Hopefully they will fix that soon! :(

As a follow up to my question above, I just installed the Kindle app on a different laptop (Dell Inspiron) without a problem.  It is definitely a problem with my Spin.

What does Amazon say regarding the browser they are using? Cookie settings are browser specific and they might be trying to look at, for instance, the setting for IE when you are using Chrome...

@billsey I tried installing via Chrome and Firefox.  I got exactly the same error as Edge.  I also installed the Kindle app on my spouse's Dell Inspiron, and it works fine.  No errors.  Edge is setup the same way on both laptops. It has to be the Acer Spin that's causing the problem.  I also disabled my cookie manager and my adblocker just in case. When I go to Settings/Cookies and site data/All cookies and site data, I see several Amazon cookies stored there so I know cookies are not being blocked.

My guess is the Kindle installer itself uses a browser as part of the activation and it wouldn't matter which browser you are using. The browser that the installer is using is having issues with cookies. Have you tried running the installer as Administrator?

@billsey    I found IE on my laptop (Microsoft has removed it from the apps list since it is being retired next month.)  I tried to get the Kindle app with IE and got an error message saying my security settings were blocking the download.  I checked IEs Internet Zone settings and downloads were indeed blocked apparently by default.  I tried again and it worked fine.  Maybe the Amazon installer is calling IE?  Anyway, my problem is solved.  Thanks for the hint.
