I've recently bought an Acer 12-in-1 mini dock for my Acer Aspire (A515-52). l have checked the manual to see if the USB-C connector supports HDMI video and l can find it "supports peripherals and accessories". I interpret this as it should support it, retailer also lists my laptop as compatible with the dock along with the other Aspire 3,5, and 7 models.

When I plug in the dock, I hear the USB device connected sound and shortly after l get a pop-up say "USB device not recognized - Last connected USB device doesn't work properly or isn't recognized". After this the dock works fine as a usb hub, but HDMI doesn't work(l'm unable to test the LAN, SD reader, audio jack at the moment). I have in the past tried using the USB-C connector on the laptop with a USB-C to USB-A and VGA splitter without luck, to do video on a projector.

My question is; are the issues l'm having related to the USB-C connection and the laptop or is the dock faulty in some way?

I would hope it's a USB driver issue, but l'm unsure where to start from when updating those.
