I have an Acer Nitro 5 (2020) gtx 1650 ti with ryzen 7 4800h my model is Nitro AN515-44 and I'm just wondering if it can handle going from 144 to 165hz overclock without damaging it and drastically reducing It's lifespan and If I do overclock how long will it last?

@Clu_berry are you trying to change the refresh rate for the laptop screen or the external screen?

You can overclock or set it to 165hz but and this is the disclaimer: Overclocking a monitor might impact your system negatively. In the worst-case scenario, your monitor or any other components on your PC might get damaged (permanently. Get an external monitor that can handle those refresher rates as its much safer and better, i've done that and have a 165hz external monitor and it works 100% and great.

Because a 144hz monitor is not designed to run at 165hz and overclocking anything reduces its durability and lifespan, its just how it is as it makes sense. Have a look at this article as that is their warnings for “How to Overclock 144Hz Monitor. Step by Step Guide With Pictures”, its up to you?
