Hello there, I own an acer a115-31-c6xm.
I opened it up to see if it had a spare ram slot and it does... I purchased an 8gb stick but upon installation my computer wouldn't boot.
So I went back to the store that I bought my ram from and the guy who worked there tried several sticks in my computer, but each time the computer wouldn't boot.
Is the ram slot on these computers just a dead slot? Or am I totally missing something? Bios settings? I'm pretty much stumped.

any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry no. Maximum RAM is 4GB. The mainboard was available either as non-replaceable soldered 4GB RAM or as replaceable 4GB RAM. Your mainboard has 4GB soldered RAM. It is neither replaceable nor expandable.

So what’s the purpose of the extra slot? Weird

This mainboard form factor is also used in a similar higher-end a315 model that has different chips that allow up to 8GB. Saves production costs using essentially the same mainboard in both models..
