Ram Upgrade for a 2019 Helios 300 PH315-52

Hey guys, I want to upgrade my RAM to 32GB and wanted to know everyone's opinion on the best type of RAM to get. I know I need DDR4 2666MHZ SODIMM sticks. Has anyone experienced that one brand of RAM is better than the others?  I believe I've read that this laptop model works with 2666mhz and nothing faster. If anyone has any recommendations or upgrades that they've done I'd really appreciate it!

YUP25 yes thats correct it will only support 2666 though it states in the service manual its supports 3200 it was already tested by a user that 3200 mhz will not clock to 3200mhz so i recommend for sure hyperx 2666 (jedec)

I can say that my hyperx its clocking at 2890+ on cpu-z but bare in mind windows will not recognize it as 2666 only 2400 (at least on mine not sure about the newer models) so any benchmarks would be useless as windows provides the wrong info to all the benchmarking software's regarding the ram speed but what counts its the cpu-z results they are the most accurate you can get so again my best advice if you have the budjet to get hyperx impact 32gb dual channel set (2 x 16gb) its not cheap but well worth it because the laptops motherboards ( probably 99%) dont support xmp profiles in the bios and the hyperx has xmp built in (jedec) it will clock itself up without any profiles hope this helps :)

Yep I have tried Hyperx Impact DDR4-3200 1x8Gb (1-rank) and 1x16Gb (2-rank) and they both work on 2666 MHz
If I could unlock bios probably I would make them run

I can say that my hyperx its clocking at 2980+ on cpu-z

and that's really weird how previous generation model can work with higher clock

and btw how did you achieve it, did it set auto itself or you made smth?

belik Correction 2890+ :) not to far anyway :p

and i would say probably the old mobos ram support was better that the newer ones lol which makes no sense and it clocks itself up automatically no need to change anything

On your screenshot memory clock is 2400 Hz, it is in field DRAM frequency not NB frequency

belik even the stock 2666 sodimm  i have shows even less dram frequency and slow as a slug anyway since i upgraded ram never had a single issue never got stuck and everything runs smooth so if anyone has the money to spend go for it because youll probably wont find any better anywhere best money i spent in ram so far

Hey Guys, I have upgrade ram with 2 x HyperX Impact 16gb 2666MHz DDR4 CL15, exactly what this laptop can handle... for some reason my laptop crashes randomly in heavy usage, even some times I have notice when ram usage goes beyond 50% system goes boom!

Actually I upgraded the ram like a year ago... I have a Mac Book for work so never bothered to debug this laptop as this crash happens rarely and randomly.
But I wanted to know what's wrong with it... anybody has any suggestions ?

(PS: Have also noticed copy of data from laptop to external USB drive is extremely slow after this upgrade)
  • @VinaySIs the model a PH315-52 too?

VinayS this thread is old and dead please open your own thread about the issues youre having and seems to me either your windows is bugged (perform a stock recovery clean install to rule out any software issues and disable windows updates permanently)  or the ram is faulty but as i said open your own thread
