Are you using a wired keyboard?
    Yes, wired via usb.

Pickel as I’ve said bios recoveries are complex and you need to know what you are doing and even then if the chip is damaged you cant recover it. Below is the Predator G3-710's bios chip and cmos battery so that is what you are looking at as a replacement mobo is about US $183.23 so click on this link to find out.

Turn the machine off. Unplug the USB flash drive. Press and hold the ESC key. While still holding the ESC key, press the power button to turn the machine back on. What happens?
I get the same screen with all the text and thats it.

I think it's probably time to bite the bullet and replace the motherboard. Thanks JackE and StevenGen

OK. Google search keywords G3-710 motherboard aliexpress. New boards are about $125. Usually takes 3-4 weeks on a slowboat. However, if you're in the US they have stateside warehouses with delivery in about a week.

  • When you tried JackE's suggestion, you changed the usb stick format to fat32 and converted to mbr. You changed the name R02-A2. CAP to RCVBOOT.CAP?

I did not know about the converting to mbr, so I've gone and tried that and repeated all other steps above. I did this with Both file names and it unfortunately did not provide any changes.
Though I appreciate the suggestion egydiocoelho

    (1) Do you get the same flash menu shown below that you posted earlier with the filename as RCVBOOT.CAP instead of R02-A2? The reason I ask is that your BIOS chip seems to be trying read the flash stick to get this far. It's just not responding to DEL, F12 or FN keyboard input.

    (2) Do you still have to press FN+ESC to get to this menu?  The specs suggest that isn't needed. Have you tried to turn it on without pressing these keys with the RCVBOOT.CAP filename?

Yes, i get the same acer splash screen every boot, with or without the USB. by hitting the ESC it changes the acer splash screen to the text.
Hitting Del or F12 changes the text to say it is now going to do that, and then it hangs on the text screen.

Running without pressing any thing just sits at the acer splash screen long after the USB stops flashing.

    I have also tried:
    • with the hard drives and cd drive disconnected in case that might help force the USB drive to be read
    • with a different keyboard that has the FN separate to the Win key
    • with the keyboard disconnected and USB inserted
    • with the keyboard disconnected and USB removed
    • tried both front panel and back panel USB ports
I think I might mark this issue as answered and go with a replacement board

Yeah. If it was mine, I'd probably go for a new Aliexpress board.  Their concessionaires have been as reliable as those on Amazon for me in the US. Good luck

Has B2 in the menu ever changed to A2 when you were trying to flash from the USB stick?

OK. This means the BIOS boot section can't even initialize the USB port. I think it's only gonna be accessble with an eeprom programmer like the CH341a. They're less than $20 from Amazon. But there's a steep learning curve to successfully use one. The other option mentioned earlier is to simply buy a pre-programmed chip from ebay for less than $20. They are fairly large 8-pin surface mount chips that can be changed with an ordinary pencil tip soldering tool from HomeDepot or Lowes

And while ACER service can re-program it, I think it'd still be cheaper and more practical to buy a new board.

Just a thought, the RCVBOOT.CAP file is in the root of the USB drive, not in a subfolder as it is in the zip file?

Go for the board unless you want to try soldering in a pre-programmed chip or some online shop. services. Google search keywords G3-710 motherboard aliexpress.

"rebooted without the CD" should say "rebooted without the USB"

    >>>>Flash.bat file in the Win folder of the downloaded driver fails to run through windows.   >>>

Don't try to run the batch file. If you can get into the Windows environment, run the EXE directly.
