Acer Nitro AN515-51 "Plugged in, Not Charging" battery display?

I first purchased my Nitro AN515-51 Laptop about four years ago, though last month I ended up having to take it in to get repairs. The AC adapter port on the side of the laptop needed to be replaced, and after initial errors kept popping up (Laptop kept blinking between 99% and 100%) the repair place ended up providing me a replacement battery and AC adapter cable, completely new. Now, after about 2-3 hours of High Performance usage while it is plugged in and fully charged, the laptop displays a "98%, Plugged in, Not Charging" message on the battery icon on the toolbar, and the light on the side that displays a battery charge blinks orange rather than the solid blue when it is at 100%. After letting the battery drain from it's displayed 98% down to about 94%, it takes a charge again back up to 100%

I have calibrated the battery (i think) at least three times by draining it to as close to 0% and recharging it to 100%. I have also held down the power button on the laptop for about thirty seconds on boot after shutting it down.

I'd taken it up to the same repair place and they did not notice any problems after letting the laptop run and recharged it, for several days. Is this a matter of a poorly-calibrated or faulty battery?

I would like to add that I've found no solutions via updating the BIOS, my laptop was purchased with all prior BIOS updates already installed.

    Hi @MitchS,

    # Try to update the battery driver

    1. Hold windows key and hit letter X.
    2. Choose the device manager option.
    3. Go with the option battery.
    4. Under the title battery.
Update Battery Drivers in Windows EASILY - Driver Easy
    5. Right click on that option ----> Update all driver under the title battery.
    6. Choose "search automatically".

Check this T/S and post the result.

Followed the instructions and both the AC Adapter driver and the Battery driver had this display.

    Hello,

This is normal and expected behavior with this type of battery.
    This does not affect performance.

Regardless, you could test/calibrate to make sure the battery is fine ("OK")
You could also replace the battery (again)

As I mentioned, this isn't something abnormal. (I've had this issue with multiple laptops)

Let me know if you need help.

    Best regards,
    Fl1ck.

The repair place and myself also calibrated and tested the battery and found no abnormalities with it, too, so I don't know if further calibrations would be useful.

I did not know that this is ordinary behavior for a new battery, the one that came included with the laptop (the "factory" battery) never had this happen before. I assume that the Plugged in, Not Charging thing is to prevent the battery from wearing down from constantly being at 100%?

It is not common to have this problem with a new battery. It happens, most of the time, with older batteries (10months+)

It is not a problem to worry about, but reporting the problem to the repair shop is advised. (Replacement)

I suggest you take a look at this article (https://www.kapilarya.com/fix-battery-plugged-in-not-charging-for-windows-10) before advising the repair shop about the issue.

I do not know the real cause of this issue.

I've let the repair place know of this issue within the last week and they have replied to me today, and said it is a normal thing for the battery to do. They gave a response of "it is to prevent the battery from overcharging at 100%"
