Hi guys,
Up until Sunday night everything was working fine, come Monday morning I had no audio through the device speakers.
Troubleshooting can't find an issue, output shows sound is playing but there's nothing coming through the speakers.
I plugged a pair of headphones in and it was met with a high pitched noise.
I've reinstalled drivers, uninstalled drivers, checked volume levels, restored windows, updated windows, restored the laptop to day one settings and the problem persists, any suggestions?

Try pressing FN+F8 to unmute the speakers.

I tried this before rebooting and restoring, the volume is up, unmuted, but nothing comes through

    Hi @ Joeybuck616

    1. Press the Windows logo key + R key together to open the Run box.
    2. Type devmgmt. msc. ...
    3. Expand Sound, video and game controllers. ...
    4. Tick on Delete the driver software for this device. ...
    5. Restart your PC to make the change take effect. ...
    6. Check if speakers work on your laptop now.

Open ControlPanel, Search 'restore point'. Click 'create a restore point' in the left pane. If System Protection is turned on in the box that pops up, click System Restore button. Click next. Do you see an automatic restore point with a date stamp from last Sunday or Saturday?

Do you see any red or yellow warnings when you open Device Manager?

None, troubleshooting can't find a problem, everything is working as it should be apparently there's just no sound coming out unless the headphones are plugged in, and even then it's just a high pitched noise through the headphones

    >>> restored the laptop to day one settings >>>

How'd you do this? From AcerCareCenter? From the ALT+F10 cold boot reset? From a Windows app in settings or Control Panel?

My suggestion to you as the AN515-55 is only a 2 year old laptop and these problems should not be happening as and all that has been suggested to you above should get your audio to work. Your laptops audio must have shorted out either its audio port or its an internal audio circuitry component fault and problem? Take your laptop to either Acer Support or an experienced tech in your area to diagnose this problems with proper tools.

About when did it start happening in Win10? Or do you recall the Win10 version that it started happening, eg 20H2?

  • Try resetting the battery: disable fast startup in power options, turn off the computer, unplug the power adapter, press the power button for thirty seconds and leave the computer off for half an hour.

I'm not entirely sure, again it was fine until I used a Behringer UM2.

What do you mean  by "again". First time we've seen this mentioned. Perhaps you better give us more detail on what "everything" used that was working fine on on Sunday night
