OK. Shut the machine off. Remove the USB thumbdrive.
Then turn the machine back on.
Immediately tap F2 to enter the BIOS menu.
Change boot order so Seagate 500GB is #1. USB HDD #2.
Press F10 to save settings and exit BIOS menu.

Please understand that this drive is very slow with a tiny cache. So it may take as much as 10-15 mins with a black screen to load necessary files and boot into the Mint desktop.

Go back into BIOS menu. Re-enable secure boot in Boot tab. Then in Security tab, chose to erase all secure boot settings. Then select a UEFI file as trusted. Select HDD0. Select EFI folder. Select ubuntu folder. Select grubx64.efi. Please note if other efi file are in ubuntu folder. F10 to save settings and exit.

    (1) Did you find the grubx64.efi?
    (2) Did you also take note any other EFI files in the BIOS HDD0 folders?
    (3) What were the other EFI files listed?

What do you mean? Did you change the boot order again. The Seagate should still be first.
