Are some cables that are " charge only" and others that are "charge and data". You need a data cable. Also not all "3.0" cables are alike. Did this one come with the docking station ? BTW most hubs and docks need an external power supply to work properly. At least 3A ia good.

I used the docking station previously to connect 2 additional monitors, a mouse and keyboard. It worked on the previous laptop I used.

We need the exact laptop and exact dock :) , the most likley reason is it isnt a DisplayLink dock but a displayport extender, and if this isnt supported on your port it wont work

OK, somewhat apples and kumquatz. DisplayLink has been around since the millenia and is a special driver that can put video output on a USB port. It required a display or dock that can translate this back into video. Most docks can support two monitors and many other good things.
A displayport is a recent (2010ish) special Type C connection that is designed to carry video. It will be mentioned in the computer specs if present: "DisplayPort over USB-C", "DisplayPort Version 1.2".
DisplayLink is proprietary, Displayport is a VESA standard.
