Aspire A315-21 battery won't charge.

Replacement battery shows 33% from factory. Unplug power supply and machine shuts down.

Charging and power lights are steady. Panel indicates battery not charging.

Tried pinhole power reset. No change.

Battery-report shows battery level at 33%

ALSO, experiencing same battery situation with HP Pavilion laptop.

Seems to be a common issue. Any ideas?

Thanks.

With laptop turned OFF, battery charge LED should turn to steady blue from steady orange before you try to turn it on again. This may take up to 24 hrs to turn steady blue.

Hello Jack E, Thanks for reaching out. Battery has remained on charge with power turned off for several days with steady orange. In fact, battery level is now at 32%. Thanks again.

Could be battery (see "infant mortality") or could be power supply (mine puts out about 21vdc when not plugged into computer).

Charger seems OK if it stays on plugged in. Open Device Manager. Click batteries folder. Right click and uninstall all drivers you find in there. Exit Device Manager without re-installing anything. Shut down Windows normally. Start it up again. What the panel battery widget show?

Hello JackE,  After following your  instructions, the battery widget continues to show plugged in with no charging activity.

Still 32-33% too? If it still shuts off unplugged then yes, agree with @padgett. Bad connectior at mainboard. Try reseating the connector several times (pulling it out, pushing it in) to try to help clean its contacts.
