TC-895 Power Cable type from Motherboard to 2nd SATA HDD

Hi.  I want to add a second HDD to my TC-895.  There is a spare SATA port and I happen to have an extra cable, but for power, it looks like thr stock HDD AND DVD Drive draw their power from a port on thr motherboard.   There is a spare slot for me to plug in another cable but I've never seen that 6 Inline Pin cable to SATA power port.

What cable type do I need?  Thx

  • Hi,
The part number for the cable is 50.VQED3.001
You have to search online for the part or contact Acer support centre in your region to find a retailer near you, they may be able to help you.

    Dear Fireci,

Is there any other power connector from the power supply? If there is a D-shape (Molex) connector, you can buy a molex to SATA connector to do it.
Maybe for some models, cable management is so good that the other power connector wires are well hidden from view and you have to pull it out.

Try take a closer look.  The appearance  of your TC-895 is just like my TC-885. I have such a hard time pulling the extra power wires from the front panel area.

If you still cannot solve the problem, how about take some picture of the interior, particularly close to the front panel and close to the left side edge of the PC and attach the pictures here?

The power supply cables are all the PCIe 6 pin plugs.  I'm used to my power supplies having the SATA power plugs attached to it.

Here's a pic of the port on the motherboard for the power cable to feed the second HDD:

I just checked my TC-885 motherboard and found out there is no six pin connectors like what is shown in the picture. Can you show another picture like six to eight inches closer to the power supply. I still think there must be some extra connectors. If not, then try to find if there are some 6-pin to SATA power connectors from Amazon.

I have the same machine with that empty socket.  Have you been able to find the 6-pin plug/cable? :-1:

I ended up buying a SATA power Y-adapter in order to plug in two SSD drives....

    Thanks! :)

I'm not who you asked, but I bought this Y-adapter from Amazon. Worked fine.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079LY2LTS/

Surely a good backup source to get the cable in case Acer run out of supply.

I suppose Acer will check the inventory from you guys too when receiving an order.

You can get the cable below and it's OEM and connects directly to that port to give you two additional SATA power

For anyone needing this cable I also found this out. So after much research in trying to find this cable for my Xc-1660g-uw93 this is what I determined.  Acer tech support advised 50.VQED3.001 for the recommended part. My search led me to Acer parts 50.U96D1.002 and 350.02202.001 from a cable reseller on Ebay.  The cable is a 6 pin female motherboard connector to two 15 pin female SATA hard disk or ODD drive connector and price was under $10. I am running 8TB drive with no issues.

Yes, I expect the third party folks will have generic lengths available pretty cheap. They can't be too expensive to build, and if you only have to build one length, that is overkill for many models, instead of a different length for each model design, you can really keep the costs down.
