I have now replaced , the battery 3 times for my Acer Aspire. The last one worked for a few months, when the screen started to flicker, and would die altogether within 10 minutes or so.  New battery arrived today...fully charged.  As soon as I unplug the power cord, the exact same thing happens...essentially, this has no ability to be used on battery charge, and works fine when plugged in.  ANy suggestions for what may be the issue?

With the charger plugged in, go to the elevated  or adminsistrator command prompt.  Enter 'powercfg /batteryreport'. Then return to the desktop. Open file explorer. Then search for' battery-report.html' in the c:\windows\system32\ sub-folder. Double-click to open it in the browser. Post screenshot of the first part of the report if possible that compares design full charge capacity with its remaining full charge capacity.

Thank you JackE...it says I do not have the permissions required to perform that function (powercfg /batteryreport)

I figured it out...not sure exactly which info you wanted, but here are three screen shots of the first three levels of that page

The battery is fine except it's been allowed to drain below a critical charge level of 5%.  our charger seems to be the problem. It is only intermittently charging. Did you unplug it while you were using it a few days ago? If not, the charger cable may be broken inside or the plug defective. You must not use the laptop until the battery charge LED has turned steady blue or you risk ruining the new battery. New chargers are less than $15usd for this laptop so if the battery charge LED does not turn steady blue, you should purchase a new one. Google search keywords a315-51 & charger for vendors who ship to your location.

This is a BRAND NEW battery....arrived yesterday.  Came from the box with about 60% charge. I plugged it in, and it went to 100% before I unplugged it the first time, and the screen started flickering.  The old battery did the same thing. You're suggesting that despite what the battery meter is showing (full) that the cord is defective? The computer works perfectly fine while plugged in with the cord...

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions, but I don't have the expertise you're explaining to me, so thanks for the continued help!!

Yes I understand that it's a brand new battery. What I'm trying to tell you is that something went wrong with the charger On Feb 6 between the times listed below from your battery report. The charger was  NOT charging the battery and the battery drained below the critical 5% charge level. It actually drained to 1%. The will damage the battery. If this continues to happen, the brand new battery will again fail in a short  time.

ok, so get a new charging cord should resolve it, even though the problem is still happening when the battery is fully charged?

By the way...the blue LED is solid, and as far as I can recall, is always solid (plugged in)

I'm making a judgment here based on your battery report, not the blue charge LED or blue power button LED or any other LED. Again, all I can tell you is something went wrong with your charger on Feb 6 between 5:38am and 2:19pm based on the battery report.

I have no way of telling you precisely what went wrong because I don't have access to your charger. It could've been aa AC line voltage spike that tripped the charger or computer circuit breaker off. Or the charger is not well isolated or properly grounded from the AC mains.

All I can tell you is that if this condition persists, the new battery will fail in a short period of time. If you insist on buying another battery rather fixing the charging or charger problem, it will soon fail too.

Rather than trying to guess long distance what the real problem is, I think you should take your laptop to a local laptop repair shop for an evaluation and estimate.
