Acer Aspire A515-51G will not power up; only the blue light shows and turns off after 5 seconds.

Hi,

When I press the power button on the Acer Aspire A515-51G, the power light turns on and then turns off after 5 seconds, nothing else occurs. I don't hear any sounds coming from the laptop (fans, etc), nor there is any display. When I plug in the charger, the battery still gets charged and the charger light still shows.

I've tried many troubleshooting + "solutions" including:
- reseating ram
- putting paperclip in battery reset pinhole
- powering on without battery but plugged with ac
- holding down the power button for 10+ minutes
- taking out the RAM, HDD, battery, and Wi-Fi cards, and placing them back in one by one
- correcting ribbons, etc.

I had the laptop for 3 years, and this issue started happening around 4-5 months ago when I had to replace the LCD cable as the screen would flicker when the hinges moved. I am thinking that it could be a problem within the back of the screen itself, however I am not too sure.

The battery is not easily removed and must be unplugged from the mainboard. If this wasn't done, and the connector at the base of the screen wasn't perfectly aligned during assembly, an exposed live connector pin can rather easily contact a grounded frame part. A barely noticeable spark can easily wipe out an integrated chip that regulates mainboard power.

Since the machine is no longer under warranty, I suggest trying to get an evaluation and repair estimate from a local laptop repair shop.

If the machine still won't stay on with all peripherals removed except battery & charger, and all covers/doors properly assembled, then the mainboard has likely failed. Did you disconnect the battery pack from the mainboard and wear a ESD bracelet when you replaced the LCD & cam cable?

    Apologies for the late reply.

@egydiocoelho ; The laptop still didn't turn on.

@JackE ; I believe that we did take the battery out; however I am not completely sure. The battery still works (well I'm assuming) as the charging still charges the battery. For the ESD bracelet, we didn't have one so instead we touched a metal surface and avoided touching carpet.
