I have an Acer Aspire Switch 12S running Windows 10 which is totally up to date. It has a slot for a Micro SD Card. When I put a Micro SD Card into the slot, the laptop makes a sound as if mounting a new drive. However, when looking in Explorer, the drive is not visible. Looking at the Device Manager, there is a yellow warning against "SD Storage Class Controller". I have run the update driver utility on that entry: it says the most up to date driver is installed. I have run the troubleshoot utility but no problems are found. As a check, I have used a USB adapter to mount the Micro SD Card through one of the USB slots and it works absolutely fine, so the SD Card is not at fault. I have trawled the internet and tried a few resets etc but nothing is fixing the problem with the SD Storage Class Controller. Is there anyone who knows of a fix for this issue please. Thank you in anticipation,

Go to your specific acer model, look at the realtek card driver.

If it looks like a realtek usb based sd card driver, then download this:

If it is a realtek pci based sd card driver, then download this:

Thank you. The download site you point me to lists 26 versions of the same update and also seems to be intended for importing into an update application by corporate users. Can you give any guidance on how to use the download functionality to update the relevant driver? Thanks, Jeremy

They point to the same download file.

Download the cab file, open it, copy/paste all the individual files into empty folder.

Launch device manager, open the yellow flag item and point the newly created folder as your update folder.

I've given up on this one and now tackling another problem entirely - see separate post about my microphone not working. I think my laptop is slowly dissolving inside!
