  • Hi,
Download and install Macrium Reflect Free Home version(second row in my link), use the instructions in the video and clone the original drive to new SSD.

Hey Mumbaki if you have a Samsung drive always use their software! The Samsung Migration Software Version 4.0 is the simplest and the easiest software to use for cloning all Samsung 2.5” and M.2 SSD drives, this software is especially designed by Samsung for ONLY their drives and for cloning and you don't need any other cloning software even if its excellent Macrium Reflect, as the Samsung software is better, don't use anything else!

Also and after you have cloned Win-10 or any supported windows OS also install Magician Software Version 7.0.0 for SSD firmware updates and tuning of the your Samsung SDD. Also enable the TRIM command in Windows at the command prompt which also improves SSD performance and notifies an SSD which blocks of data are no longer in use and can be safely wiped out to be writable again, enabling TRIM improves performance as the drive won't have to spend time erasing a particular block when space is needed to store new data, ensuring the SSD reaches its advertised lifespan and performance. Btw, I’ve used Samsung drives and their software for cloning and monitoring SSD drives for years and they are all excellent software that works 100%.

@Mumbaki Having had real on-point support from @brummyfan2 I'd go with his suggestion as using it helped me just install a Samsung 970 EVO Plus but on an Acer TC-886... old drive was an EVO860 (which we're still debating as it seems the Benchmarks claim is running faster than the new upgrade?) ... but back to you,  I used the Samsung Migration tool and it did it's stuff and the new drive booted up Windows 11 no problem.... Are you also using the Samsung Magician soft

I would be using the magician soft as soon as I completely installed my m2 ssd.

First update the BIOS to the last for your Aspire A513-53G the Version: 2.03 Date: 2019/09/26 tilted "1. Update ME-FW 11.8.65.3590. 2. Update MCU" then enable the TRIM then install the Magician and see if there are any firmware updates for your M.2 drive and then tune your drive with the Magician features for the best performance with Magician. That is all you have to do as you will have one very speedy drive. Btw, this laptop also runs Win-11 so all the updates relate to Win-11 also.

So that's it? No need to access BIOS?

Just migrate data from hdd to ssd.
    Then update BIOS.
    Implement TRIM.
Lastly, install Magician and update m2 ssd if needed.

Are these steps correct? Please insert if I missed something. Thanks

Hello. From the first video at (15:15), do I have to do this if I used the Samsung migration too. If so, can you tell me the most efficient way on how to create a rescue media. Thanks

    Hi,
If you are going to use Samsung Magician to clone the drive, I don't think you need a rescue media because I couldn't find any such tool provided by Samsung Magician, you can migrate your system to the new SSD with Samsung magician but it doesn't have the system backup feature, when you backup your system only you can recover the system with the rescue media.
    Summary of what I said:
    1. Migration is different from backing up your system and  recovering the image, Samsung Magician migrates everything from old drive to your new SSD.
    2. Macrium Reflect clone everything to your new SSD( very similar to migration).
You can also backup your system to an external HDD, create a rescue USB disk with Macrium reflect, if your cloning process didn't work, you can backup the system to an external HDD, create a bootable rescue USB, then you can recover the image to your new SSD after booting with the rescue USB.

    Hi,
What happens when you remove the old drive and leave only the new SSD in the laptop? Could you please post the Disk Management picture when you have both drives in it.

I think I figured it out. My ssd was offline as shown in the picture. So I right clicked it and selected "Online". After that I checked my File explorer and now the other disk showed up(ssd). Then I restarted my device and entered BIOS. In there I've prioritized booting my ssd. My device starts normally now. The last thing I want is to erase all data from my hdd and make it as an extra storage. Can I apply the steps from the video you sent?

    Hi,
Yes, if you are satisfied that all your data has been transferred to the new drive, you can format the old drive and use it as a storage device but make sure that everything you need has been transferred because I don't want you to lose any important data.
