Thank you but neither her mom nor myself really understand any of it...all I know she has only used it for 6 months ...

Firstly I don’t know which area your Granddaughters is from but in her case her Chromebook is under 12 months Acer warranty so please contact Acer Service and Support in her area and talk to them and send the Chromebook to Acer to be repaired. Don’t open it or change anything (as when I gave you that advice I didn’t know that it was under warranty!) and give Acer all the purchase details and date of purchase so that this item can be repaired under warranty. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Power related issues can be caused by numerous things like battery condition (as battery might need to be replaced) and charge issues and internal connection issues or the battery needs to be reset, the CP311-2H does not have a battery reset way of doing things but I would try to press the side power button for 15 sec and see if it resets the battery? As it could also be a damaged and/or is faulty power switch and/or other internal power circuitry related issues etc. Also check the adaptor for output voltage of 20V and if its working, the OEM adaptors are either of these two:

    • “Adapter Chicony Power 45W 5V/3A_9V/3A_15V/3A_20V/2.25A Type C A045R053L” part #: KP.0450H.009 or it could be the model
    • Adapter LITE-ON 45W 5V/3A_9V/3A_12V/3A_15V/3A_20V/2.25A Type C PA-1450-50AD LF Black Meet DOE6, CoC Tier2, IEC 62368” model #: KP.04503.014

If all the above work then you will have to disassemble the Chromebook and unplug the battery and check its connection if they are corroded and making contact properly with the motherboard to power it on? First hold the power button for 15 sec to discharge all the power in the device then clean the battery plug and slot and then replug the battery after about 5 min and also check the output voltage that its 10.8V (if you have a volt meter?) as the OEM battery is of the type below:

If all that does not help then its an internal circuitry issue that a consumer like you can’t fix and needs an experience technician to diagnose and fix the problem of replacing shorted out or burned out mosats, capacitors, switches etc etc as they have all the tools and parts to do these jobs. Good luck as this problem is I’m sure very frustrating but unfortunately happens allot with modern laptops.

    Hi @jjsmom448,

Did you try to charge the unit with different charger.
