When I open Apex Legends, my Helios Predator 300 stops charging

Whenever I open Apex, even though my laptop is plugged all the way in and at full charge it swaps to battery power and drops the fps. The only way to fix this is to close the game and unplug the charger from the wall before putting it in again. I've checked for wear on my battery and it is still in good shape.
