I recently purchased this model through Amazon it did not include the expected mounting bracket or ssd cable. It seems it isnt sold anywhere since it is supposed to be inside the laptop.

First contact Amazon and ask them if they will supply the SATA cable and HDD bracket? Which I don't think that they will. If not then contact Acer in your area as these two parts should be included with your A515-46-R14K package. the part numbers and descriptions of these two parts are as follows:

Sorry, but I tried requesting those parts through the form provided by JackE (https://csapps.acer.com/kit-request/#submit) and it tells me that those are not valid Acer serial numbers. Do you know why?

You must use the serial number id (SNID) of your laptop, not the part numbers for the bracket and cable. The serial number should either be on the UPC label of the original laptop packing box or bottom of the laptop. If you can't find it, then either click the "Get Product Information" link on the right hand side of this webpage or open the Administrative command prompt and enter 'wmic bios get serialnumber' The result will be your machine's serial number id (SNID), which you use to request the cable and bracket at https://csapps.acer.com/kit-request/#submit

Ive tried both the SN and SNID of the laptop and both result in the same message: "Part number NX.ABRAA.001 is not valid for this form."

Tap F2 on startup to enter the BIOS menu. On the BIOS INFORMATION tab the SNID should be listed. First try entering the full SNID shown. If that doesn't work, omit the first ten characters (NXABRAA001) and enter only the remaining characters.

I omitted the first 10 characters as recommended and it said "not a valid Acer serial number."

Is this machine still under warranty? Was it purchased in the US?

Yes, it was purchased in the US, refurbished, through an Amazon seller named Bestdigitalbuy. I believed at the time that they were officially recognized by Acer. I'm no longer sure. I wrote to them first and they said, "It would not come with the bracket and the wire. Those are sold separately." While some are sold separately, I've only seen the required parts for other models. Would any other models parts substitute? Also, the laptop came with a sticker with the email address "service@acerrecertified.com" on it for service inquiries. I have emailed them as well, but have yet to get a response. Presumably, because its the weekend.

I also believe that this model IS supposed to include the aforementioned parts within the laptop.

When I bought my A515-46-R14K NEW, it came with the HDD/SSD cable and a mounting bracket. Since you got it as REFURBISHED, maybe that makes the difference.

    >>>Yes, it was purchased in the US, refurbished, through an Amazon seller named Bestdigitalbuy.>>>

Go to this link. Enter the machine's serial  number id. (SNID). If the number is still unrecognized, the machine is likely not covered by the ACER warranty nor eligible for the kit. The kit is also not usually included with the sale of new machines in the US and Canada, only in other regions.

If this is the case, you only need the cable, not the bracket. The 2.5" drives can be suitably immobilized and protected inside the case with a few pieces of anti-static foam rubber.  That's all I use since the laptops are already crowded enough inside without adding more metal and screws.
