Hi,

Just bought an ACER swift 3 (sf313-53). I'm having issues with my scheduled tasks. I have the task to wake from sleep , and this works fine when the laptop has been asleep for a short time, however it looks like once the laptop is in sleep more for an extended time it goes into some sort of hardware hibernation and fails to wake up via the schedule task. I assume ACER has power settings for this, unfortunately ACER has crippled the bios so that the power options are not available. Is there another way of having access to the ACER power settings?

The power options are all in the OS, not in the BIOS. Look at the advanced settings for the power plan you are using.

To change and customise your “Sleep settings” and other power settings do this; right click on the "Battery icon" on the right side of the taskbar and choose "Power Options" where it will take you to "Choose or customise a power plan" where you can either choose a pre-determined setting like the Balanced (recommended) or My Custom Plan or there are addition settings on the right side too, also if you want more settings then you can click on “Change plan settings” on either of those two settings then click “Change Advanced power settings” where it gives you individual and specific power options to change to either the HDD, Internet Explorer etc etc including the Sleep settings which should be all that you need. Your BIOS has nothing to do with specific power modes and sleep modes.

    Thanks,
I do know how to change power setting, it is set to sleep. I have also made sure to allow wake timers in the advanced setting. The issue is my scheduled job does wake the laptop after a short sleep, however it fails after an extended sleep. Further analysis shows that my laptop has  the following sleep states:

The following sleep states are available on this system:
Standby (S0 Low Power Idle) Network Connected
        Hibernate
        Fast Startup

The following sleep states are not available on this system:
        Standby (S1)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
This standby state is disabled when S0 low power idle is supported.

        Standby (S2)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
This standby state is disabled when S0 low power idle is supported.

        Standby (S3)
This standby state is disabled when S0 low power idle is supported.

        Hybrid Sleep
            Standby (S3) is not available.

So it seems that it goes from standby to hibernate (my power settings are set only to sleep). I did find some setting for S4 wakes in the bios, however that did not help. Any suggestions?

Which power plan are you using? Some will have all options adjustable, some will only have a subset of those.

As mentioned I'm putting the laptop to sleep after a certain amount of time, nothing else. What specifically do you think I can change within the power plan to solve my issue ?.  The available states (S1-S5) are only dictated by the bios/hardware, not the power plan.

ell, one possibility is to disable hibernate, which also disabled hybrid sleep mode...
