Swift 3 fingerprint reader stopped working

Yesterday my Swift 3 fingerprint reader stopped working.  I use Windows 11.  When I go into the Device Manager, and go to Biometric Devices/EgisTec Touch Fingerprint Sensor, I get the following under Device Status: 

“This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API.”

Some background:  A couple of months ago I updated to Windows 11, and the fingerprint reader stopped working.  So I uninstalled 11 and web back to 10 and it worked again.  A few days later I reinstalled 11, and the fingerprint reader worked fine, and it has worked fine since then until yesterday.  Thanks for any help.

    Sometimes a simple system restore will fix the issue.. 

    Try windows x
    click on power shell admin or command prompt admin 
    type rstrui
    chose an earlier date on which your computer was working fine  
    click on next, finish, yes
    It will restore your computer to an earlier date 
    if you get an message - system restore not completed - click on close 
    It will show you all the icons..


    Try and check whether it is working now ..



    If it is still not working ..


    Tried windows x
    click on device manager 
    Uninstall the finger print reader 
    Restart the computer


    It should work fine ..

    If it is still not working 
    Go to support.acer.com 
    chose your country 
    type snid or chose your model 
    go to drivers - Install the finger print reader.. 

    Click on "Like" if you find my answer useful 

    Click on "Yes" if it answers your question.

    I have a similar problem. I was following this guide, the most promising is uninstalling the device and then restarting, however it seems to one work for about a day or less, then the issue appears again.

    Now, the SNID of the computer is 02400439334, and model is SF314-42-R6T7.
    If I click to update driver (in Device Manager), it shows I am on the latest update:


    I believe this message is accurate, I checked Acer's website for any newer drivers for the sensor:
    Product Support | Acer Indonesia


    There is no Windows 11 operating system in the drop-down.

    But I noticed that Product Support for model SF314-43 does have support for Windows 11.
    Now, my question is:
    1. Is there a driver in development for SF314-42? and if not..
    2. Is it fine to download the newer EGISTEC fingerprint scanner driver from the SF314-43 page?

    This is a follow-up to my previous comment. I decided to go through with downloading the driver from the SF314-43 page. And I chose the option Browse my computer for drivers and selected the driver folder.


    So far, it seems to work. I will add another comment if it breaks again. I am assuming the driver is written by EGISTEC for the Windows 11 OS.

    Thanks for the responses.  Several hours after I posted this, the fingerprint sensor started working again, without me having done anything to address it.  Not even rebooting (which I had previously tried a couple of times).  So I don't know what changed, but happy to have it working again.

    Another follow up, my fingerprint reader wasn't working this morning.  I wonder if this is happening when I haven't rebooted in a semi-long time?  After I rebooted, the fingerprint reader did work.

    I'm experiencing a similar issue. On the support web site found a second driver option (different vendor). Anyone tried this Elantech driver?

    You should look at which sensor is installed on your system in Device Manager under Biometric devices. My system is using an Elan sensor, so the second download would be correct for me.

    Same issue is now affecting my laptop. Disabling and re enabling the sensor is device manager works as a short time fix but then the problem returns.

    I have tried all above steps. Any help with this? @Acer-Blayn @Acer-Brad or anyone else?
