I Just bought Acer aspire 7 a few weeks ago.
Sometimes when I use my laptop, the screen suddenly freezes. I can not do anything with my laptop in seconds. After that, it automatically restarts.

OK. A factory reset should be done as soon as you can. If it doesn't resolve the issue, then immediately return it to the vendor as defective  before the vendor's return merchandise authorization (RMA) period ends. Usually only a few weeks. Acer warranty service would take longer.

The preferred method is a full erase everything ALT+F10 cold boot factory reset from a hidden reset partition on the storage  drive. So you should back up any personal files and data before doing the reset.

Disable & uninstall any non M icro soft virus scanners that might be running in the background like n or to n or m c a f ee. Windows Defender is all most users need now and it's updated regularly.

Did you install Windows or was it factory installed Windows?

Is it common that these problems may happen during a major update? That seems to be when I have this issue of not turning on.

Yes, that's why you should stay with your Linux system.

No, not yet. If Windows is factory installed, then you probably have a non - Micro sof t virus scanner bundled with Windows and slowing the laptop. Open task manager. Click startup tab. Please post screenshot if possible of startup tab programs.

OK. What do you mean by 'restart'? Does it actually automatically reboot Windows after the screen freezes?
