Acer Swift 3 (Model SF314-55G) can't install RealTek Audio Driver - BSOD

I noticed there was some static in my speakers from the audio, and one suggestion was to update the RealTek Audio Driver. I first tried with the driver from the RealTek website. It removed the existing driver, but after a restart, the laptop showed no audio device was present. I tried to manually add the driver, and the install went to the "blue screen of death." Since then, I've tried the driver from the Acer website and also a few different versions when that didn't work. In some cases, the driver will install but show an error code 10 (device cannot start), or the installation will get to a point and go to the blue screen (rtkvhd64.sys is listed as the problem). I have tried to reset windows using the "download from the cloud option," but that didn't work either. I think my next step is the complete wipe and reset, but not sure if that will fix it either.

Download acer driver, unzip folder, run setup.exe.

Run Microsoft Store.

I have tried the official driver from Acer (https://www.acer.com/ac/en/SG/content/support-product/7785), and it does not automatically add the device after running setup.exe. After, when I try to manually add the device using the driver that was installed, I get the BSOD.

Not sure what you mean by "Run Microsoft Store," though.

You are having problems because you had a 2019 audio driver before.

Then you went to Realtek's website and installed a 2017 audio driver.

Go to device manager, open every category and look for a yellow flag item --- that's your problem.

Uninstall your old 2017 audio driver.

Then run Microsoft Store to pull the Realtek Audio Console app. The old Realtek HD Audio Manager doesn't exist anymore.

There are two items with yellow flags in device manager, but they don't seem related to RealTek. If I remove them, they reappear on reboot.
I have also verified that there are not any RealTek applications related to the sound driver installed. There is one called RealTek Card Reader, but I know I have removed it previously and it reappears.
In the Microsoft Store, I don't see anything called Realtek Audio Console.

Multimedia Audio Controller looks like that item was the problem.

Realtek audio console is not a searchable item in Microsoft Store.

Only computers that have successfully installed these new Realtek audio drivers correctly will Realtek Audio Console app appear on your "purchased" list. The only way to have it is by correctly installing the realtek audio driver and the realtek software components.

The problem is when I try to install the Realtek Audio Driver, I get the Blue Screen referencing rtkvhd64.sys. I am not certain that the currently listed driver from Acer's page is the original one that came with the laptop.

It makes no difference if I uninstall the Multimedia Audio Controller, I had the same problem when it is not there. I will try to remove it again, but it seemed to have no effect the last time and I could still not install the Realtek driver.

Show us the properties page for the two items listed as problems in Device Manager. It might be best to uninstall those then reboot to force Windows to reinstall, but I'd like to know what state they are in now...

hi, the headphone jack was not working so i searched for solutions, and I found an old post that suggest using Realtek audio control. then I went to mstore to download it but can't find it in another post I found the link to mstore and finally found it but again surprise me MF it would not download please give a solution

@shojon please start a new thread (use the Ask a Question button) for your issue. Include the same info as was done above, your full model number, pictures of Device Manager showing the errors if present. You don't sound like you are having the same issue, static on speakers.

Okay, so I had this issue about a year ago, what you need to do is just install it on windows 10 1909 as the driver does not install on later versions of windows for some reason. Once you have installed the driver, you can upgrade to the windows version of your choice

as mentioned above, it seems to be the case..

but you may try search for the realtek driver for win 11 from the intel site.

also as mentioned above, once installed then you may find the so called Realtek Audio Control from the Microsoft Store.

Random guy with zero post history resurrecting a long dead thread just to give out the wrong information.

Intel's realtek audio driver is for Intel branded NUC mini computers. It is not for some random branded computer that happens to have an Intel cpu inside.
