I have tried all the fixes I could find on the internet nothing works. I'm trying to update the BIOS but it will not let me because it needs a battery.
Can anyone help me solve this problem.

It might help if you could reveal your full ACER model number? For example, A515-54G? Or ES1-533? Or E5-575?

Other than the battery problem, what other problem do you have that you think a BIOS update will fix?

    >>>I'm trying to update the BIOS but it will not let me because it needs a battery.>>>>>>E5-576>>>

If the battery is bad, this is normal behavior.

    (1) Since a replacement battery is less than ~$20usd, why haven't you replaced the battery yet?
    (2) What other problem are you trying to fix by updating the BIOS?

I have tried most of the common fixes found on the internet. The bios is the only thing I have been unable to do.

Wow. That was fast delivery on a holiday weekend. What vendor did you use? What replacement battery did you get from the vendor? What do you mean by no change? What error message are you getting. Please post a phone photo of the error. If it still says you  need a battery, you probably got a bad or uncharged battery. The BIOS cannot be updated this way. You also are not explaining why you want to update the BIOS because this is a very risky process that could completely disable the machine.

as I said I have tried many of the fixes found on the internet. The battery was ordered last week and I installed it a few days ago. the only thing I haven't done is update the bios. This is what I need help with. I an not an expert at this but I'm far from novice.

Sorry. I'm still not getting it. What error message are you getting when you try to update the BIOS. Please post a phone photo or screenshot of the error.

Is the battery charge LED lit steady orange or steady blue with the charger plugged in?

The battery led stays on when I connect the charger for about a minute and then starts blinking.

the battery icon in the sys tray when I mouse over it  shows 100% charged and no battery detected.

Sorry, a blinking battery charge LED means either the battery's own internal charge regulator has failed or it detects a cell failure/short, or the corresponding mainboard charge regulator has failed or detects a mainboard charging circuit issue. Corrupted BIOS firmware wouldn't be the likely cause.  However, you can try to reset the BIOS to default by pressing F2 on startup, then pressing F9 to load defaults, then F10 to save default settings and exit.

If the reset doesn't fix the issue, and both batteries behave the same, then the best way to rule in or rule out a mainboard hardware problem is a full erase everything ALT+F10 factory reset.
