Predator G9-793 Battery Problem

I had a game running on my Predator laptop (3+ years old) the other day and the keyboard stopped working completely, even the power button failed to respond (short/long holds).  Mouse was fine.

I pulled the AC adapter and let the laptop run out of battery as the only way to restart it (fullscreen game prevented Windows interaction).

Currently the laptop battery light is cycling with a short orange blink, long red, off, repeat when plugged in. Dead when AC is removed. When I power up the laptop even with AC hooked up, once it reaches the off light, Windows throws the battery at critical level and goes into a save state.

I have tried soft battery pull with paper clip, even leaving overnight after reset to let residual power leave, same behavior.

I popped open the shell and unplugged the battery, reseated a couple times to make sure all is well with connection.  Turned it over and power it back on without RAM cover (ignorant at that time of the microswitch).  Power light stays red, recognizing AC.  Left overnight plugged in to test.  Morning it was dead again. AC not recognized at all.

Popped the RAM cover back on, plugged in, back to light cycling.  Pulled RAM cover, AC recognized with solid red again.

Tested laptop while awake on AC (ram cover removed), seems to randomly shut off during varied usage.  I am thinking power pull from battery is failing so laptop dies although I am not sure why AC is not sufficient.

I have ordered a new battery because a 3-4 year old battery is pretty normal lifespan however I do keep it plugged in 90%+ of the time.

I have attempted most solutions in the battery threads on here besides BIOS updates because I see no battery mention and I am leery about bricking if the power randomly goes off

Here is what I have tried: battery reset, unplugging battery, testing AC adapter voltage, removing battery driver in Windows then restart.

Care Center and Windows both think Battery is at 100% charge with no change, even Power Troubleshooter detects nothing.

Couple of questions:
Does anyone know what the light cycling actually means?  No doc available on blink sequences.
Why does the computer only recognize AC persistently with microswitch tripped?  Even then it randomly turns off and I have to repeat sequence.

Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi @smokeyrobot,
