If I use 6.0.9088.1 (25/05) Realtek audio driver there is usable 24 bit option, but with the latest 6.0.9208.1 driver sample rate selection is greyed out... I really want 24bit support to listen 24 bit flacs with APO parametic Equalizer + DirectSound / WASAPI (shared) API..  (WASAPI(event) mode is perfect upto 24bit/192kHz playback without resampling, but I want those options available in windows mixer screen or atleast 24 bit /48000Hz like before)

I've also tried setting device to performance mode, installed realtek audio console driver, and even reinstalled the latest realtek audio driver like 4 times and still the option is greyed out..

I can notice 24bit songs are actually playing at 16bit, but only with the latest driver white noise is greatly reduced and using without 24bit support is really a huge bummer

please help to resolve the issue

    Turn off audio hardware acceleration.

Turning off hardware accelereation disabled 16/24bit / 44.1/48/96/192kHz playback with WASAPI exclusive (event) with foobar2000 player also with the latest driver, audio very frequently breaks/choopy and to fix it I have to pause and play continuously and randomly it will get fixed (with wasapi exclusive).

With windows mixer all the other options are still greyed out...

    Turn hardware acceleration back on.

That bit rate selection is meaningless to you as you are using wasapi exclusive mode and that selection is for shared mode.

I though of using wasapi shared for music playback since I also want to use APO EQ, so having bit depth fixed at 16 in windows mixer: converted 24 bit song playback back to 16...

Ok now I found another way, I use easyQ VST plugin for parametric EQ along with WASAPI exclusive in foobar2000 player, and now I'm happy...🤷
