Notebook can only load bios.

Hello,

I do have a ACER Notebook ASPIRE 7730G.

I can only load the BIOS when starting-up the Notebook. Altough I can select some options in the BIOS and it saves the changes, it does not reconize those changes.

I think the HDD is not working properly anymore, but I am not sure of that.

Hope someone can help me further.

I had a similar problem years ago with a Toshiba laptop. The hard drive was shot. If you have the Windows DVD, you can try re-installing it.

I searched a little on the internet and came up with this: several people advise you to download certain software, even though you can't get past Bios. The most common opinion, going all the back to Windows 98, is that your hard drive has failed.

I advise you to take it to a computer shop and see what they tell you.

Unfortunately not. I can only enter the bios.

It doesn't even reconize the Windows DVD.

Fluffyfluf, I talked to the owner of a computer repair shop this morning. He says that your hard drive has failed. Period. I am sorry, and the same thing happened to me one time. The best thing to do is take it to a computer shop and see if they can replace it.

Were you able to see the windows logo? If not, then it's a problem with the harddrive. You can also try restarting the computer and tap F8 until you see the options to boot to safe mode. If it gets inside safe mode without problems, then you can do a system restore to revert the changes in your computer.

Nope, the device could not even load Windows.

It says: ''Press F2 for Bios Setup''. If I do not press the F2 button it just keeps that screen. If I press the F2 button, it will load the BIOS and I can make changes in it, but it just won't save the changes. It does not even boot from a Windows DVD.

Is it also an option to buy a new HDD and put that one in the device? Because that saves me some time.
