Yes I think the SSD is better obviously, no matter how much expensive the HDD gets it slows down as time passes so an SSD is the best option and make sure you don't full the SSD up as some SSD s start to show inconsistent file write times if the drive is too full and you write too much data to them.ttttt said:@jackhardy
I always think that 2.5" SATA3 SSD are better than mechanical HDD in almost all aspects, the performance in particular.
I'll say, go ahead to replace the boot drive to 2.5" SATA SSD. All brands will work , but some reputable manufacturers may have better reliability.
Personally, I have tried SSDs of different brands, hardly can tell the difference between them.
Be sure to download cloning software for the operating system migration.
Yup only some times...ttttt said:@NathanAlwis
I agree with you in general. As SSD were still rather expensive last decade, I accumulated many small capacity SSDs ( 16GB, 32 GB, 60 GB,120GB) and installed different Linux Versions ( and even Windows ) on them. So far haven't encountered inconsistent file writes yet, probably none of them exceeded 90% capacities.
