Acer V5-531P HDD Not Detected

I just got my Acer V5 laptop.. I was so excited it looks cool.

But then i turned on the laptop. It went straight through a black screen and a text on the top-left of the screen saying "Operating System not found".

I tried out resetting to default on bios.

But it doesn't detect the HDD at all.

I tried it changing UEFI to LEGACY = Nothing happens / Sata mode IDE = Nothing

Please help me.

If it says "Operating System Not Found" with Windows 8, it can either be HDD failure or OS failure. Typical HDD failure indication, is a message saying "No Bootable devices Found -- Insert Boot Disc and Press Any Key". Try removing HDD from bottom of unit and reseating it. When you are done that, remove battery and make sure unit is not plugged in, push and hold power button for approx. 40 seconds, reseat battery and try to power unit on.

If you had the chance to create the Recovery USB key, try booting off that to possibly reinstall OS. Insert USB key, restart into BIOS and select 1st boot device as USB HDD. Press F10 to save configuration and exit BIOS.

If issue is still persistant and HDD is till not detected in BIOS, obviously HDD has failed. Conatct Acer support for further options to resolve issue. They can either sell you Recovery Media (may be pointless) or arrange a repair for unit at their depot.

     Hope this helps.

disassembling the laptop might void my warranty right? i don't wanna risk it because i just got it i didn't even had a chance to use it. and is the hdd of the 531P accessible?

Reseating the HDD is one of many Troubleshooting steps used by technician to determine cause of issue. However, I did notice that the HDD is not easily accessible, so I would suggest not to do it. You may be better off calling tech support so they can determine cause of the issue and worse case send the unit for repair.

Also depending on the Return policy of the store where you bought it, that may be an alternate option.

Well i actually disassembled it to check the hdd and the hdd is bad it doesn't work at all.

I'd rather just buy another HDD than to wait for 2 weeks for the service repair. I don't have that much time in my hands and i am also going out of the country by monday.
