need new Acer
I have Acer Aspire, about 3-4 years old. I have loved it, but it is now starting to give out on me. I have spent roughly half of the price of a new one to keep it going. I do wish that Acer had a place where I could ask this question.
What is the current model of Acer that is comparable to the Acer Aspire of 3 years ago? I don't get the Iconian, Aspire, etc. stuff. I just need a simple answer.

Good to hear from you, Mary. My next question is "What are you using it for?" Mostly internet browsing with a few card games? Heavy-duty office work? High-level gaming?
If you´re a typical user (the first choice), dual-core (nobody is manufacturing single-core anymore) with two gigs of RAM is sufficient. That´s the low end of laptops. And it´s probably more powerful than your current laptop was.
And there´s more good news. The price of laptops has been steadily dropping, while the power and quality have been steadily rising.

There was more than one Acer Aspire three years ago, just as there is more than one today. Can you remember if you bought an entry-level, mid-level, or high-level Aspire? Is it single or double core? How much RAM does it have? Is it a gaming computer?
Currently, dual-core with two gigs of RAM covers bottom to the middle range. Windows 8 is the standard OS.

Thanks, Vince. I would guess this was an entry or mid level. It is an aspire one, if that makes a difference. Unfortunately I can't even get windows to open on it to check for any specifications.0

Hi, Vince
I do use it for internet browsing and moderate home office work. Occasionally I will watch a video on it. I was told when it was repaired last time that I was using it for far more than it was designed for.
Early this morning I ordered a Acer Aspire One AO756-2626 11.6-Inch Laptop (Ash Black). I am hoping this will be sufficient for the next few years.
Thanks again for your input.
